please tell me what you think. I think that the earth's magnetic field will flip, however some scientists think that what happened to mercury is starting to happen to us.

incase you don't know what happened to mercury: the planet originally had a fairly strong magnetic field, but then the planets mantel slowly started to cool, thus generating less of a current, thus causing the slow end of the hability of the planet because once the magnetic field disappeared, all the atoms of the substances needed for survival were litterally stripped away by solar wind and such.

so, please tell me what you think.

Geologists think that this happens naturally every so often in the life cycle of the Earth, similar to glabal warming followed by global cooling. Might need to buy a new GPS, but I think that'll be the worst of it.

Well actually, the current "north" pole is actually the south pole (if you are looking at it as a magnet) and the "south" pole is the north end of the magnet so the field will really correct itself. Theres a great series called The Neanderthal Pallax by Robert J Sawyer that explains it well, as well as having a great storyline.
