Most cheaters aren't honestly that good and are killable. It is not like CS where cheats are so prevalent and free that smart players using cheats are hard to determine.
Over the last year, more and more under-ranked players have started calling everyone who does anything better then they are a cheater...
How long have you played the game? It sounds to me like you fall into the above category, especially given that you are considering buying cheats just to "compete," that is honestly a pretty retarded argument in an FPS game. Maybe in a MMPORG or something where your use of bots etc. doesn't directly and immediately ruin everyones game play, but in FPS games thats low of the low. You simply aren't playing if you are cheating.
You would be better served to play longer and just enjoy BF2; if you suspect a cheater, rather then making an ass of yourself simply change servers. If every server you go to has "cheaters" on it, then it is you with the problem not them.
Many players have played these maps 100's of hours and know them inside out. Coupled with UAV and a hand spotting commander, and a squad of guys in vent/teamspeak, you are basically hamburger. Further more with good squads res'ing eachother, KD ratios of 40:3 etc. are entirely feasible round after round. You just have to have the experience to know how to do it.
I can only add that in BF2 at a high level, such as in clanbase, esl or upnorth, its very hard to prove someone is cheating. There are dot reticule hacks that are pb ss clean, ditto for nametags. Good players have no trouble disguising this in their gameplay, so that it is subtle and very hard to prove. Past experience at clanbase shows members of VERY well known clans (obviously mentioning no names) have used hacks, now go figure how many undetecteds are still being used. Unfortunately BF2 remains a very hack open game, and there isn't much we can do.
While I wouldn't say that there are a lot of hackers, I will say there are a lot of people who suck who accuse everyone better than them of hacking

my only contribution to this is you cant hack ninja gaiden. you cant beat the living shit out of it for extra points, but you theres no glitches to exploit.

I have only witnessed one hacker ever! Most of the time they are just good and you don't like getting killed by them.
I ran into my first pair of hackers/cheats/glitchers over the weekend. They were moving about freely inside a building near Hotel on Karkand (watched them on my Commander screen - they were on my team! )
The next round we were on opposite teams (again, I was commanding), and they came and kidnapped me. Not sure how they were able to revive me, with me being on the other team and all, but it was pretty damn annoying.

I'm not positive, but if you play in any one full 64 player karkand server you'd probably be expected to have between 4 and 6 hackers. However, usually you don't notice them because of the way their hacks work, in that they don't get that much of an advantage (bf2 hacks work best against motionless targets, if you're moving parallel to them they can ahve a lot of problems hitting you), or they are good enough that they use hacks in a supplementary roll. People like these can go months without being detected simply because they don't give people reason to think anything except that they are very good. However, there are those hackers which use the hacks only, and although its not as obvious when they're using rifles they sometimes use the SVD and then its very obvious...
If about 25,000 people hacked and there were 2,500,000 bf2 accounts you have to take into account the fact that most hackers have 2 or 3 extra accounts, and that about 1.5 million BF2 accounts are not in use. Also hackers tend to be alot more noticed on IO servers. There are plenty of hackers on vehicle servers but they arent noticed as easy because vehicles are easy to use without hacks and they are brushed off as "good players".MajorHoulahan_MASH wrote:

I have only seen a no-fog cheat, otherwise no hacks.
If you think everyone hacks or even a percent of people you play with you suck and should stick to single player till you're ready for the big boys.

That's just ignorant. I've turned in tons of video and screenshots of obvious hackers. In a full 64-man server, it's hard to gauge, since one jackoff isn't going to change much in the round. Play in sparsely populated servers, and it becomes quite apparent. One tard can completely change the course of a map. It also gives you enough time to "test" someone, and know without a doubt.Bertster7 wrote:

after reading the responses to the OP, based on my extensive background and expertise in the fields of Psychology/Sociology, I estimate that all but 12 BF2 players are using hacks. I am one of the 12, but not for long...I'll be paying #$%.com a visit shortly and downloading my copy of their multi-hak. To the 11 remaining honest BF2 players: If you want to be competitive, start using haks. I can't wait until I get home tonight, I'm gonna frag all yo' asses with my new haks!!
