Question, not that I am , but, do 2x 8800 ultra REALLY need a 1200W PSU, or, anything near that? I thought anything above 900W is just insane, even with two of them running

Dual 8800s will require a lot of more. The 1200W was calculated through using other things - eg. hard drives, dvd drives etc - better to be over than under!Bell wrote:

He won't need 1200W. You can comfortably run 2 GTXs a quad core and a bunch of hard and optical drives on a 750W.leetkyle wrote:

You'd be fine on 900W-1KW, and that's being fairly cautious.
Considering that (if he even is) buying dual 8800s, which cost a lot - I'd be rather shocked if his other components weren't as powerful. Again, 1200W is just to be on the extreme case, and I doubt anyone on these forums even will be running dual 8800 ultras in the next month or two

Nice thread you've got here but you seem to be missing some of the lower end ATI cards. Just FYI. As you can tell from my sig I went nVidia but if you want to make the guide complete u should add the rest of the DX10 cards out.
