It seems to be that time again in the year when everyone upgrades their rig. Don't blame them, pretty bad ass games are coming out (Crysis, ET:QW, FoW, COD4, etc,.)

I too want to get a new rig.
I searched on the forums and I found various price ranges, mostly under 1000 dollars. I have a budget of 2000.
I have a monitor, keyboard, mice... (all input devices) I just need hardware and case.

I'm planning to go SLi, adding more RAM, an extra ROM, and adding an extra HD, later on.

But for now this is what i have plan:
https://img505.imageshack.us/img505/7683/2000gamerigwu4.jpg
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6811119122 - $259.99
CD/DVD Rom: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6827136117 - $32.99
HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6822136012 - $199.99
Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814130072 - $559.99
Sound Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6829102005 - $139.99
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817153043 - $259.99
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820231098 - $84.99
MoBo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813188014 - 194.99
Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6819115003 - $223.90
CPU Cooling: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6835186134 - $34.99
Total:  $1991.81

Did i forget anything? Any changes? I want to play on high settings, last long, and something that i won't need to upgrade anytime soon....

I'll Karma the helpers.

Thanks
Xblade

is sufficient and cheaper

look at the mail-in rebate

ehh and yeah, an AC Freezer 7 Pro will most likely NOT fit onto that motherboard and if you plan on serious overclocking, it will also let you down sooner or later.

Are you going for Vista ?

Asus has a spanking good new premium mobo just for Vista

Not to flame you Varegg, but the user reviews on that board are not that great, i'd look elsewhere personally.

sound cards are pretty useless imo.

Apart from that it seems okay

I didn`t read the newegg rewiews, it got very good rewiews on a norwegian webshop that usually have very credible rewiews ..... besides most faulty mobos that soon as some of the rewiews says are because of static electricity during mounting - some people never learn

Ive pretty much got that sort of rig, and all of the components are pretty damn good. I asume US$? Pretty good pricing. But you may not need the extra fan (unless OCing or for mods etc) and the sound card, unless there is not intergrated soundcard on the mobo. So yea, good config.

Pretty much exactly what I'm leading up to for a major change this summer. Personally I'd get a P35 board so when the new 45nm CPU's come out, you're ready for them straight away.

Edit: Just realised planning to go SLi (why would you do that with a GTX?), dont bother with the P35 board then.

That thing is the sex. Get 2 more gigs of RAM...and only using that 150G Raptor would be bad. I hope you're planning on getting another HDD.

Get a 250 gig from WD. They're like 70 bucks and work great.

Sorry I couldn't respond sooner, rough night and woke up late....
Well thanks guys for all the advice, might change the PSU that was posted.
Varegg, thanks for the advice but I don't want to switch Vista yet because of some bugs and glitches, unless you would recommend DX10 for me.
buLLet_t00th, so i won't need to go SLi with that card? Thanks You saved me $$$ thanks So P35 board it is!

The problem is that newegg doesn't list any P35 boards. That's rather weird because in Europe they've been available since about 9th of May and yet, none of the large hardware retailers in the US is selling them. *scratches head* I really really wonder why that is so...
But if you're going for a P35 board anyway, I'd really suggest the Gigabyte P35-DS4 to you. Not only, because I'm a Gigabyte fanboy, it's also that its cooling is massive. and with a decent CPU cooler you will be able to push your processor quite nicely.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6835887002 That's also a nice cooler (although imho it looks really gay) that's supposed to work VERY well, even better than a Zalman CNPS 9700 because of more heatpipes. It's also smaller and obviously a quality thing - though at full load it's probably louder than a Scythe Infinity because the smaller fan can't push that much. Anyway - a 92mm fan at 800 rpm ought to be inaudible which means that you'll love this cooler even more if your cpu is idling.

hope that helps!

Ran out of +1 I'll give you one as soon as I get them.

I have read the the E660 runs great when overclocked when you have a great cooling system. Should I?

You are spending too much on the Case, PSU, Sound Card, and Mobo. You could probably cut the price down by at least a third on and still retain the same performance and stability.

Well, I read a little deeper into its reviews and they say that it's pretty loud at full speed though. Incase you're getting the stacker that's not good, since it will be very noisy then.

Sadly you can't get your hands on a Lian Li PC 7 SE-B III like this one here:

https://www.pc-cooling.at/images/products/600049200/600049200-1_gr.jpg

The side intake would be optimal to deliver fresh air to your 8800GTX while the main airflow from the front to the rear would stay untouched. Also, in this very version there'd be a vent above the PSU to let the warm air exit over there.

:-( And yes, Cerpin is right about the sound card being too expensive. You pay about $50 only for the Fatal1ty brand... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6829102006 this one is basically the same, there's just some little features which you won't ever need on the Fatal1ty With the PSU you're well served, although I have to admit that this Enermax http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817194004 here would also be sufficient, aswell as this Thermaltake: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817153049 - you'll certainly not need more than 600W, even with an overclocked system and an 8800GTX.

About the motherboard, it's still the problem with the P35 chipsets apparently not being available in the US. I really feel sorry for you in this case :-/
