I've seen some. The camera man has to be pretty hardcore too. So there.

Les Stroud is harder, Bear just likes to eat weird shit. Les is the star of Surviorman. Not only does Les have to do the same difficult and nasty shit as Bear, but Les films it ALL by himself. Les actually has to survive for a week, there is no camera crew with him.
This may be true, however it's not like he has any help from the crew, and I'd rather watch something filmed well by a crew than something crap filmed by the guy on his own.
Have you seen Survivorman?  I don't think its filmed crappily (new adverb?) at all.  I actually agree with Superior on this one.  He (Bear) may or may not have help from his crew, but Les DEFINITELY has no help.  He has no one to talk to for a week.  At least Bear can chat with the crew.  Plus, I am sure it is a little more mentally draining *knowing* that you are all alone.
Nope, can't say I have, but I'm just imagining lots of MySpace style camerawork.

Yeah that's occurred to me as well actually. He must at least be nearly as good as Bear, cause they have to follow him across all the same stuff.

Yeah, but the cameraman could be toting a 24 pack of Evian too.  Which means he (the cameraman) wouldn't have to squeeze liquid out of elephant shit.  In fact, Bear might not have had to either, he could have just done it to show how to survive (much like when he jumped in the ice lake to show how to get out).

Nope, it's all very professional. He usually has at least 3 cameras running at one particular time. He makes it all nice in post production when he gets home. What makes it so difficult for him is having to get pretty shots, say him walking off into the horizon in the Arctic, we see him in this beautiful shot, but he actually has to walk back that some hundred yards to get the camera.

I was thinking more in terms of terrain tbh, I'm under no illusions that the cameramen just have a knife and a camera.
You could say the same about all survival shows if you want to be that sceptical, I mean this guy of yours whose name I've just forgotten could have a plane drop him crates of Evian everyday.

EDIT: If you find any links to where I could see it though, that'd be cool. I had a quick look on the TV sites I frequent and couldn't see it.

They're showing the Alaskan one right now and i'm trying to think how it's done. I can't think it's him on his own as the camera moves alot when he's doing stuff. Like when he's climbing down the waterfall, shit the camera is right along side him. How they make this is beyond me.

When he ate the salmon, it reminded me exactly of MGS3.

Insane prices, they're charging that per episode! If it was the whole series, I'd get it.
