China.....There's lots to see, illegal dvds to buy, and, for a laugh, criticize the government and see what happens.

Iran would be pretty boring. No alcohol and loads of strict stuff. Plus you can see all that Islamo stuff in the other Islamic Republics. Visit that place when they have their un-Islamic revolution though.
Easter Island etc.. - Would be unique, but not much fun. Once you've seen one you've seen them all. Can't imagine there being alot of stuff other than historical stuff
Angkor Watt - Massive Ancient Hindu Temple taken over by Buddhists (that must've been one crazy peace war, i guess the Buddhists threw more flowers and so the Hindus surrendered) - SE Asia sounds fun and has alot of stuff. Probably not much on fun scale though.
Forget all the Communist stuff. Probably won't be fun. So no China or Russia.
Japan and/or India would be good choices. Japan looks really nice. India has abit of everything.
West Coast probably isn't much different to here.

CPoe, if you haven't been to NZ go. It's the only place my father has ever holidayed that he actually enjoyed. From what I've seen and heard from all sources the place is awesome.

Nighttime: Cheap beer, cheap nightclubs, cheap sex, cheap shows involving female genitalia and projectile tennis table balls...
The only thing you gotta do is just not act like a tourist (prices go up, but still amazingly cheap) and learn how to differentiate between women and men.

My reasoning: there's talk (there's always talk, isn't there?) about limiting the number of visitors to protect the site, so get there while you still can. Everything else is going to be around next year, even Iran, so can wait.
Cambodia (for Angkor Wat) is expensive to get to and dangerous (dodgy infrastructure) when you get there. I'd leave that for a year and hope the in-country travel arrangements improve.
