Is it a good thing? Depends on the vet really. If they give a balanced account of their times, good and bad and don't paint the whole experience as a summer camp giving the kids a distorted version of the military then all well and good.

Unless they're throwing out recruiting pamphlets, nah. I think its great, I would love the opportunity to school some kids that think war is a video game. Well, its not! It's a video game with KBR chow halls, which means omelettes made to order...

We had an event like that back in '93 when I was in school, met some great people in the community. They basically did a roundup at the local Legion and hauled them to our high school. I think recruiting actually dropped in our area after that, in fact I was the only sucker to sign up that year

Well, if the military gets the same amount of time as other "professions" then I guess its ok. It also depends on what is said. But judging from the army's recruiting methods and tactics, I doubt there's noble cause behind this activity...
