"Frankly speaking the launch of the new AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor is not a very big event. Until promising new cores based on K8L micro-architecture come out, AMD will hardly be able to surprise us with anything. After the launch of Intel Core 2 Duo processor family, AMD K8 micro-architecture turned pretty obsolete. While in the budget and mainstream market AMD manages to success just fine thanks to smart and aggressive pricing policy, then the high-performance segment seems to be a tough nut to crack for AMD at this time.

Despite its significantly higher performance rating and $459 retail price, the new AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor can only compete successfully with Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, though not in all applications. From the price-to-performance prospective it is losing to the Intel Core 2 Duo at this time. So, the newcomer will have really hard times winning the user’s hearts. At least until the prices go down again."

This would make a good sticky (or part of the uber sticky in tech) in the sense that it could in its first message contain a baseline $1K usd system, agreed upon through debate and facts. Perhaps have a couple different price points.

AMD has much better bang-for-the-buck than Intel. Sorry Intel-whores.. it's the truth. Just like ATi has better bang-for-the-buck cards than nVidia. Once again, sorry biased-fanboys, but it's the truth.

I fully acknowledge that Intel's best is better than AMD's best, but that doesn't mean every Intel smokes every AMD in every situation. If you think that then you are a tard.

This thread was not to build the best computer ever made, it is to build the best you can for 1000$. To do this, you need good bang-for-the-buck, which Intel doesn't have.

I'm just posting what I think is better. The rig I posted would rape the rig the OP posted. Better CPU, better RAM, better mobo, better PSU, pretty much the same video card, and about 12$ cheaper.

I thought that was the point of this thread, to post the best PC you can buy for 1000$. I tried to meet that requirement. I figured I would get flamed for picking AMD, but I don't really care. I prefer AMD, I always have. If that makes me a fanboy then so-be-it. You guys always have to make up insults for things that differ from your view. Please learn to accept that your views and opinions are not the only views and opinions.

That PSU has excellent rails and is better than most twice its price. (hence "bang for the buck")

I had a PSU with 30A on dual +12V rails with 450W. It failed after 3 months.

It's all about the quality of the parts in it.

Uh no the e4300 120 vs the 4600 which costs the same it will smoke it. And the HD 2900 XT is crap compared to the 8800GTS ask any site.

Quiet you! I bet either your CrazeD's freind or his alt account. The e6600 kicks the x2 6000's ass all over the pavement, How do i know? I had built a system for a guy i know with that proc we ended up returning it since my buddies E6600 kicked it's ass in bf2 with a lesser video card(The x2 had an x1650xt while the e6600 had a 7600gt)

We do have our facts straight we just hate fanboys like you. Oh and i do go to computer engineering class in my high school one of the teachers is a complete moron. He says athlons are better then c2d's since they c2's get hotter. And when i correct him i usually get a write up or other bullshit.
