I recently installed BF2 on our new computer, and for some reason some of the keys/functions aren't working.  For example, run is set to "Left shift" but when I press it I don't start running.  I tried changing it to caps lock, but it still doesn't work.  The only way I can sprint is by double tapping W.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Have you tried resetting to defaults?

You have to hold the shift key, not just press it once.

I know that Havok, I've played for over a year.   I hadn't changed the defaults when I first noticed them not working, I have made changes since and could resetting them I suppose.  Thanks for the tips guys

Restart your computer. Something like this happened to me a while back where the mouse or keys wouldn't work and I restarted. Everything was fine after that.

The computer has been turned off numerous times since I've had this problem, so I don't think that's it either.  And it isn't as if the keys don't work outside BF2.  I can use the left shift button and it works fine, or the caps lock button and type in caps.  I think I might try and swap out to a normal keyboard tomorrow and test to see if it's the wireless keyboard giving me the problem.

if that doesent work try uninstall reainstall. Something may've fucked up while installing which is causing your problem.
