Straight heavy lifting with your arms, insterspersed with light weights and high repititions.

But, frankly, the best method is to use your own damn bodyweight. You need to strengthen your arms, learn to balance your body while moving vertically, and strengthen your fingers.

If your flat out terrible, find a low bar that your head goes over when standing.  Grab it with your arms and walk yourself out into a modified pullup position, with your head lower than the bar.  Start pulling your chin up to the bar.  or Do pushups, and any of the other aforementioned exercises.

It helps build up strength in your fingers and forearms since you can stay on the bar longer.
