I've known a few people in the military that have said they were being deployed somewhere, but in actuality, were deployed somewhere else. That was my point. Given our current standings with Iran, I seriously doubt sending Navy SEALS there and having it be open knowledge is not something we would want disclosed. But who knows, maybe there's a link about it on CNN or something. I just think you probably should have confirmed whether or not that was considered private information before you posted it up for all to read.fadedsteve wrote:

You dont think you are going to tell your dad where you are deploying to?? Cmon!
His dad told my dad, in which I called Mike Sr. to find out the whole scoop on why Mike Jr. was just deployed to Iran. . .
He didnt know the operational details other than he IS there, and has been for 3 weeks now.
What did I say. . .some guy is gonna claim its bullshit!kilgoretrout wrote:

Whatever, take it or leave it. . .
People in the military have families, their not all John Rambo's running around with no next of kin. I happen to be family friends/go to high school with a Navy Seal and his family. His dad and my Dad play golf often, and talk "dad to dad" whenever they are with each other. . . .My dad is obviously concerned about Mike's safety just like I am, and want to know how he is doing.
Mike tells his dad everything for the most part, and why wouldnt he, he's his dad. . . .
In no way is this story compromising anyone or anything! If you dont believe me about the SAS story, then fine, I dont care . . .lol! I am just tellin ya what I was told by a guys dad who happens to be in the "know". So believe it or not, its your choice.

Maybe because they don't have enough people in the Military that speak Chinese? You think?CoronadoSEAL wrote:
damn - should have 'learned' farsi.
better question: why did they recommend 'military prospects' learn chinese only below (1) arabic and (2) farsi?

I can not imagine we would be crazy enough to start another military action in Iran. We are spread too thin already. At this point, the mainland is vulnerable to Mexico for hells sake.
I just have to laugh at people who think this story is bullshit. . .
I know its far fetched on a video game website, but I'm not bullshitting you guys. . .
I will say that I wouldnt have posted if I thought in anyway Mike would be compromised. . . I was mearly seeing what people thought about Seals going to Iran and the implications of that. . . .
Keep in mind we have special forces all over the globe, and the fact they are in Iran is pretty much a no brainer. . .

i have said this before, but i feel it's appropriate to say again:
"greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."
what a warrior.
i was speaking specifically in terms of language needs for Naval special warfare. Usually, those types don't sit around and translate - they use the language in the context of the culture it represents...KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Oh just what we need to be doing, fucking around in Iran. Not that we haven't been. Last I heard we were conducting what are roughly terrorist operations on Iranian trucking. GG freedom and democracy.

Funny how he says US operations are now "terrorist" operations. . . something wrong with that statement!Sanjaya wrote:

Of course they were. The South Vietnamesse were our allies. Iran certainly isn't our ally.CoronadoSEAL wrote:

edit:not necessarily. if i'm not mistaken, in vietnam, Seals were sent in-country as 'advisors' well before extreme military escalation.ghettoperson wrote:
This is all very interesting and that, I'm not denying that. However SEAL's inside Iranian territory would potentially be an act of war.
Why can't the US be terrorists? If we're targeting civillians don't we fit the definition you right wingers love to use to seperate israel from palestine?fadedsteve wrote:

This just happend to concern my buddy whom I would not like to see get killed.
Maybe I shouldnt have started the thread in the general population. . . I should have just IM'd one of you guys the story and seen what you thought.
side note: jon I dont know where to start with you bro. . . . US targeting civilians. . .doensn't happen man, never has been a part of US military doctrine to kill innocent people, and if it was in the past, it certainly isnt a part of it now! So dont even go there cause you just look misinformed and overly left wing

I must be reading the wrong intelligence reports lately - Now I'm coming to bf2s.com for all the latest operational news!
I thought it was common knowledge that the US was running surveillance missions inside Iran. And to whoever spoke about soldiers being deployed to places other than where they were told to, they sure has hell wouldn't tell them they were going to Iran if they weren't. That's all they need, stirring up the Iranian's suspicion for no reason.
I doubt this story is true, but if it is, no one is likely to hear about it first through a video game forum, and even if the do the US will deny it and pull them out before they are seen.

"The official release says there were no casualties among the Americans, and makes no mention of any on the Iranian side. U.S. soldiers present at the firefight, however, tell TIME that American forces killed at least one Iranian soldier who had been aiming a rocket-propelled grenade at their convoy of Humvees. "

Navy SEALS get psychological assessments to ensure they are not the type who need to brag.
The very fact that anyone KNOWS this guy is a Navy SEAL would be a big problem to them, let alone knows where he may/may not be going.
My guess: the guy is a paper pusher telling stories to get respect, or this story is utterly contrived.

Futhermore, If you have read, I am privy to info that most people who arent in the know, wouldnt know!
I dont need to go into Mike's backround, but he is NOT a paper pusher in the least bit at all, he has served in Afghanistan and Iraq, and is now apparently in Iran. . . .
Its not classified info on who and who isnt a Seal (they live work and train in San Diego for christ sake!) . . . .You cannot post or show their faces in press, radio, and film if they are on an operation. . .Seal teams are not a classified organization. Their operations and the people involved are not released as to keep operational security. Notice I didn't list Mike's last name. . . .
Didnt you watch 60mins where the reporter was with a Seal team in Afghanistan?? Thats not classified info if they are showing Seals on an op!! youtube it, Im sure its there!

Well this is quite a different circumstance. Everyone knows SEALs are in Afganistan and Iraq. No one is supposed to know they are in Iran.fadedsteve wrote:
