Hugo Chavez needs a history lesson to see what happens when thugs try to take over business.
Yeah, how dare he believe that a nation's wealth should go to it's citizens!
Yes.  I bet that is exactly where it is going to go.

More like into Chavez's pocket and then he will spend that money in a store or something and then he will consider that "giving to the people".
The people are the biggest losers as they wont see one penny of it. He stole an entire company in the name of the country. This dictator will soon learn that he cannot keep the men of mind in his country & then his new business will crumble upon itself most likely ending in a huge accident.
At least the company raised the standard of living for the people, now they will have to beg for scraps from Hugo if he even listens. A sad day indeed.

Why are you guys so sure? That's what I don't understand. You seem to hate the guy for the things you suppose he will do. Is there any logic in that?

and btw Bubbalo, there is no country by the name of "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus". The northern part of Cyprus is currently illegally occupied by Turkey. That's all.

surprise, surprise.  it cracks me up around here when you got a bunch of dumb asses at my school trying to argue with me on how great of a man chavez is for venezuela.   I got family that i still talk to living over there.  they hate him.
oh that settles it then, one family!!!!!!!111!!!.

What about his landslide victories at the polls?

dumb ass
62% is landslide?  regardless my "one" family in Venezuela is a lot better than your right index finger and left mouse button, dipshit.
George Bush 2004 - 50.7%
Tony Blair 2005 - 35.3%

So ya, a landslide dipshit.

And no, one family is not better than the internet

I have yet to make up my mind about Chavez. For once, he has won the vote of the people fair and square, and as long as he doesn't round up people who oppose him in death camps, he has every right to do what is allowed by Venezuela's constitution.

Contrary to most south american nations, Venezuela has rich natural ressources, which in the past benefitted foreign companies more than the average venezuelan. So from that point of view, it could be said that Chavez - being the people's man he is - has a unique chance to make the life of the everyday venezuelan better, if he puts the now state-owned ressources to good use.

Understandably though, a lot of people who have seen various dictators come and go in south america in the past decades, are critical of chavez's actions, and see in him nothing more than a Pinochet, Noriega, Castro, etc..

This goes together with some strong irritation on part of the US, regarding the fact that a number of important south american countries have recently elected socialist / leftist governments. There is obviously some fear, that Chavez - being the colorful and outspoken man he is - may very well try to put himself at the top of a socialist / leftist movement in south america, at the doorstep of the US.

Time will tell wether he is just a showman ( anyone remember his appearance before the UN general assembly ? a classic.. ), or wether he can be taken seriously.

Dictator or benefactor, I think there is potential for both in him. Let's hope is the latter. We certainly don't need another panama...

Technically the Republic of China doesn't exist, but I like to cover all my bases.  That is the definitive list of everything which might be a state according to Wikipedia.  I don't think it includes micronations, though.
