yup.  they were killed outside of tarmiya.   it may or may not say taji, but it wasnt.  they were killed off of a canal road off of route coyotes.  a right hand turn of the route. 


the official KIA description for my guy that died says it was in najaf, but it wasnt, it was hundred of miles away from najaf.

there were a lot of canal roads. that whole area is very unfriendly.  thats the same area I lost my guy.  like I said, i was IEDed as we were on our way to the site of the original IED for security.  They knew our SOP's so they waited until the QRF showed up to detonate the second IED.   That was my track they tried it on, only problem was I was on the other side of the canal so it missed completely.  Ended up finding some guys in the field and their hands turned up positive for explosive residue so we arrested the,  I know the oregon guys wanted to do more than arrest the,, they were pretty heated.   A month prior, we lost Sapp as we were attached to bulldog.  that whole summer, bulldog lost a lot of guys.

So as I am a major huge fan about building modles from the Vietnam era, I went to the local shop and saw a dream model, a 1:35 UH1D Huey from the regular United States Army 164th Hornet to be exact, I bought it a prce of 45,00 together with a 1:35 UH1C Huey Frog, also from the United States Army.


I always wanted to make something from Apocalypse Now and my initial thought was:'Oke lot's of helicopter, lot's of Euro's, buy 1:72 but this 1:35 kit was too good to pass and I bought some dry grass with it with a pack of 4 soldiers of the 1st Cavalry and a set of palm trees.

Trunks are painted and are placed onto the grass, will take some time to dry fully

Leaves are dry and put on using toilet paper layers and a couple of leaves at the time, leaving them to dry and then put another layer of woodbrown over it.

I have a question:

I'm about to setup my airbrush and I need some pionters. In the fuselage of the helicopters (doors/tail) I want to make bullet holes. Now I know how to do that, done it before but that was when I hand-painted it (1:48).

Do I first make the holes and then airbrush it?
Do I first airbrush it and then make the holes?
Do I airbrush it, make holes and airbrush it again?

I say you build it and make the holes and all kind of damage you would like to and then you paint it. You should also use silver or metal after you have the basic color of the helo. You know a bit silver on the holes (with hand ofc not airbrush) looks real and it shows you as the bullet came from the other side and flow trugh the helo.

The German KV-1 still need to be painted.


Sturer Emil still need to be painted and ya lot of stuff is still not on the model as they are small and will paint it before i glue em on.


This Abrams is ready like 1 year ago and guess i dont ahd time for it. It was a good deal as i bought it for 15$ instead of 28$ fuck yeah!

I ran into a snag on ma helo, I hate having to mix paint colors, usually because once I run out you cant get the same color againg so I had to repaint the grey areas all over again, cockpit windshield was a bit of a nightmare to get right, one of the roof windows fell through and ended up slipping beneath the cockpit floor so I had to break the glue bond along the bottom to get to it. Have no idea why all Blackhawk kits have the same setup for installing the cockpit windows and doors. Difficult as hell to make it look non messy.

Update:

M60 mount and gunner done, was a bitch to do cuz the mount broke of at the pivoring piont, fixed now and added ammo, pilot, ammo catcher, 2 red smoke grenades and a bit of paint chipping.

One side of the fuselage has a good coat of paint and got the bullet holes, paint chipping etc done to it.


Cockpit is coming along nicely with the M60 mount on one side and a M60 on a bungee cord on the other.

Also, I decided not to put passenger doors and benches in, it was common on Cavalry Huey's that there were no benches nor doors on the helicopters
