i made a model of a f-14 once but i got inspired by tom cruse in top gun and now its gone
I use to paint Porche's, had a mantle in the old house with a good 20 on display, but dust and children got to them and none made the migration in a box.

I'll post some mine when I get chance, not done any in a while TBH. I should be able to post some photos of a Panther, a Sherman and a Churchill.
My Space Marine army. That's about 1500 points of it, lined up in formation prior to engaging my friend's Necron army.
I won that one, but at a heavy cost.
lol that reminds me I've got heaps of warhammer 40k stuff hanging around.... mostly crap painting..

Well, I don't have pics of them (as of yet) but here's a list of what I do have:
[*] Sherman Tank (75mm gun)
[*] Sherman Tank (105mm howitzer gun)
[*] Late Model Tiger I
[*] Panzer IV
[*]M-16 American Halftrack with Quad-.50 cal MG's
[*] 3 German Halftracks of varying apperance
[*] Flak 88 Field gun
[*] 20mm Flak gun (in quad)
[*]M-42 (Duster) AA vehicle
[*] Various bits and pieces, sandbags, walls, random infantry sets...
If I remember, I'll go on Tamiya and obtain photos of the ones I have. (Also bear in mind, none of mine are painted yet, so don't be too 'wowed' when you see the pics from there )
I still have the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier model upstairs, complete with many little machine guns along the sides, but the main communications mast or something snapped off and I haven't been able to find it.
I used to do a lot of Warhammer stuff, in particular high elves. But, over the years my paints dried up and i couldn't be bothered to but it all again.
I can post some pics of you are interested.
Mcminty.

Nice one, I've always wanted to be able to make a plane look weathered, but I'm never really sure how to and I don't attempt it in case it spoil it. I find planes harder to do than ground vehicles now.
And again very nice work from everyone

I can help you out with your weathering effects. A simple trick is to follow this order:
Photo of Stuka Dive Bomber washes:
Hawker Hurricane:
If you got a model that is black (Like that F-117) I'd buy grey, or light grey oil paints to fill in the raised rivit lines etc.
- Once the model is complete, decals put on and final, wait about 2 days and then spray on a coat of Semi-Gloss, or Gloss clear. Make sure you use a lacquer clear coat, not a water based
- Because you used a lacquer, you can use water based colors, and oil paints as washes. I recommend buying small canisters of oil paints. These are already thick and pasty and can be watered down to just about ANY consistency. I recommend blacks and browns (that first model of mine i used ONLY these two colors)
- When you slap on a watered down mix of black paint (usually used to fill in rivet lines, and detailed areas) you can let it get to a dry state and then take a wet cloth and wipe the access off. This wont interfere with your models original paints because the lacquer clear coat protects them.
- The idea is to cover the areas you want to get filled in, let it dry then wipe off the access, also it is a good idea to wipe it off sweeping in one direction (usually towards the back for air crafts) This makes good streak lines etc.
- For armor models, the oil paints work just as well, but don't water it down so much, you want it to be thick and pasty it looks more like mud and grime. Water it down for oil stains and fuel leaks etc.
- Finally, when you are satisfied with your weather effects give it all a day or two to dry and THEN spray on (cover the whole model) In a FLAT finish lacquer. This of course hides the gloss you put on AND protects your new weathered effects.

Thx mate, I was considering buying MiG pigments but i can't find any and they seemed like they would be expensive, those tips are very much appreciated.
Those are pretty cool man. Nothing wrong with yer hobby, unless maybe you play with them in the bathtub.
Ya, I never heard of MiG pigments, but I wouldn't bother with it. Oil paints (I got them at Hobby Lobby) are great. they are a little expensive though, I think I paid $4 for a small little tube. But it's lasted me over a year now. Hell, you can even do washes with simple Testors acrylic paints if you want.M.O.A.B wrote:

I choose the oil paints because they have a more...I guess 'grainy' effect to them. Oil paints are kinda blotchy and fill in well. Plus they dry semi-flat so it looks wet when you glob it in areas (Like I said for mud/grime/oil stains)
There is nothing better then just TRYING it! I say get an old airplane model or armor model you have lying around, dust it off (wash it maybe with soap water) then spray it with a gloss coat, let it dry and just go wild with the oil paints. Brush it on, streak it on, blotch it around. Mix colors (Browns/greys go well togeather)

Again thx, I've got lots of models from over the years, some of which are pretty messed up paint job wise, but still workable I'll give it a try with one of those, need to get some laquer and some oil paints first though.
Hmm. Personally, I tend to use drybrushing for my highlights and weathering, but that's because I come from wargaming, where the quick-and-dirty approach is valued.
I mean, when you're assembling stuff in bulk, you REALLY need to find the easier ways of getting an effect.
EDIT:
Although I use dedicated ink washes to produce shading. You can see the difference between the two un-inked Rhinos on the outside of the army shot and the rest of it. Darkening effect, and it shades the detail.
Of course, I tend to cheat on the really tiny stuff and just paint it shiney metal, and let the light do the work. For the larger shiney, a thinned blue wash.
Although the blades, wheels, and tank tracks get strategic thinned red paint on for blood effects.
