I noticed most political leaders are Authoritrian/Right ..... so looks like we have no budding world leaders with us.

The test is complete rubbish. There's no way of justifing such an awfully made test. But it's good for a laugh.GorillaTicTacs wrote:
This test actually separates those two viewpoints instead of putting them on a linear scale. Your views on pornography are a completely separate axis than your views on welfare, for example. The scale doesn't attempt to combine those in any way.superfly_cox wrote:
i think this test is a little bit off. the results don't really reflect people's viewpoints. how my view on porn or sex relate to my political or economic views makes no sense...do i really need to be a bible thumping ignorant hillbilly to be an economic conservative? when we're done i think you should figure out the average and readjust for 0.0,0.0 as the average.

I think maybe that scale is broken.

EDIT: Not that I'm saying it's good, because personally I don't really feel it reflects my views, especially economically, but what specifically did you find wrong with it?

As far as the "test being rubbish", I thought so also for a bit, a quick trip to their FAQ set me straight though. I think what the complaint though is this:
I realize for some of you that this may be your first exposure to something more than the "left-right" pigeon-holing you're used to from mainstream media and talking heads. The problem is that people don't think in a straight line, and to get a real perspective you would probably need to plot 3-dimensions or more. You should also consider that the results may not reflect your extremism, just your balance in a particular area. Somebody that plots "centrist" may be a completely racist homophobe that thinks gays should be shot on sight, but thinks free abortions should be mandatory and porno should be required reading in school. Your mileage may vary.FAQ wrote:
Some of the questions are slanted
Most of them are slanted ! Some right-wingers accuse us of a leftward slant. Some left-wingers accuse us of a rightward slant. But it's important to realise that this isn't a survey, and these aren't questions. They're propositions - an altogether different proposition. To question the logic of individual ones that irritate you is to miss the point. Some propositions are extreme, and some are more moderate. That's how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass.
Some of the propositions are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger buzzwords in the mind of the user, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy.
Incidentally, our test is not another internet personality classification tool. The essence of our site is the model for political analysis. The test is simply a demonstration of it.
You should have a "don't know" option
This makes it too easy for people to duck difficult issues. By forcing people to take a positive or negative stance, the propositions make people really evaluate their feelings. Often people find they wanted to select 'don't know' mainly because they'd never really thought about the idea.
For the time being though, 2-dimensions is a nice compromise, as is an abstract averaging scale because, quite frankly, with some of the scarier characters on this board I just don't want to know specifics.

I agree with Bertster, the test questions are slanted and open-ended. Also, there should be more options. That being said...

edit: also, I voted on my ideals, not reality. I tend to water down my ideals a bit for them to fit realistically in society.
