I should have started color-coding the dots with nationality...when this thread dies I may just do that in the final chart.

I think we have a long way to go though, so far I got a ton of liberal socialists, enough to form our own kibbutz and start a kumbaya chorus line, and about 3 guys free-market right and 4 guys going fascist (but still close enough to be centrist). We're definitely still missing a few prominent posters here.

This test actually separates those two viewpoints instead of putting them on a linear scale. Your views on pornography are a completely separate axis than your views on welfare, for example. The scale doesn't attempt to combine those in any way.

In your example, you seem to moderately like the free market, slightly disagree with the welfare nanny state, and are relatively "common sensical" in your belief the state plays a role in the enforcement of morality of its citizens. It doesn't prove or state anything specific, just your general viewpoints on 2 different axis, enforcement of morality and control of economics, which when combined make up a large portion of your political beliefs.

Or, to put it another way, your "bible-thumpiness" goes on one axis and goes up or down. Your "economic conservativeness" goes on the other axis and goes left or right. The two are entirely independant. You could theoretically be a bible-thumping communist or a completely satanic free-market guru. Mix and match
