I have been playing BF2 since like, a month or 2 after its release and it has always been fine... Then i installed the 1.3 patch and i lost a LOT of performance during network play for no apparent reason, then under 1.41 it was running REALLY bad, no fps to speak of, which i attributed to my computer being pretty outdated... But now i have a new computer, which basically just shreds the system requirements (2X 8800 GTX's, Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM) and multiplayer was still a slideshow, i ran fraps; averages around 10fps if I'm lucky so i decided to try singleplayer for the first time since the days of 1.0 and i average 130 fps (in single GPU mode). I don't get it! a friend of mine, with the same network speed (512kbps) averages 60fps online, with an older pc... Is there some obvious thing I'm missing? What do i do??? Online play has just been completely crippled since 1.3 across two computers and 2 different operating systems (I'm running vista). Please help!

Thanks

Umm...  I'd have to assume you have serious spyware or viruses or something.  A computer of the quality that you own should be getting triple digits in FPS.  It could be Vista, but I don't think it'd hold you back that much.

I think if Vista was the culprit he would see crappy frames in singleplayer too.  So it looks like it could be the server you are on or maybe a network driver issue and lastly a net connection problem.  Strange though that when it comes down to it, you had the same issue with the old pc and now with your supercomputer.  Now i need to know if you play any other games online and if you do, how do they play?  Since youve had two computers and both have had the same problem when you play online..that leads me to think you have a broadband issue.  I would do some speed tests and see what you come up with (www.speedguide.net) since you may not notice too much of a hit when just surfing or IMing.  This may also be dependent on when you play, test your connection at different times during the day, then test when you hop on to play.  Do this for a couple days and see what results you get.  Your connection may be getting smashed by users around the time you play.
