I'd like a bit of a spin on Ghost Town... Sniper town. Just a small experiment or something, where snipers could show their true effectiveness - maybe a city made completely of climbable and entereable buildings...
If I decided to use this as my concept it would all be there. Maybe not all of the posters in the mall. They'd be easy to add but I'm not sure what my rights are for using them.dobbs wrote:
Holy crap, if you did the inside of the mall that would freaking rock. Could you graph all the signs and logos too or would that be copyright infringement? iT would be awsome to be blasting someone right infront of AMC20! smile man the sniper spots on that map would rock! you got to do the park reall well too, the ice rink and the imax building, and dont forget the carosel!
Well... I think I know what I'm going to do. I'm going to create simple level design layouts for each concept with out of bounds and potential flag locations. Some will be based on satellite images like the map I made for Spokane's city center and others may just be hand drawn layouts that I'll scan in and markup. Then I'll post them all in a new thread and have anyone who is interested vote on their favorite 3 concepts in descending order; 1st choice, 2nd choice, then 3rd choice.
I think I'll probably get some better feedback and an idea of what people want if they have some visual reference that they can use as a guide for each concept.
So far I plan on creating concept layouts for:
[Fictional] Abandoned European Castle on plateau nestled in a river valley.
[Real/Inspired Adaptation] Spokane, Washington
[Real] Bonneville Dam
[Real] Norfolk Naval Station
[Real] Astoria, Oregon
[Real] Newport, Oregon
[Real/Inspired Adaptation] A town or region in the Xinjiang province in China.
[Fictional] A deeply carved crescent canyon with a Cliffside town along the rim.
[Fictional] China valley village located atop several terraced irrigation canals.
[Fictional] A China harbor city populated by buildings, docks, and commercial ships.
Other suggestions that I've received:
A recreation of the Alamo
A recreation of the Gettysburg
A skyscraper populated city with several accessible buildings and balconies.
A ghost town created for snipers and infantry.
Disneyland
If I get enough support from you guys to pursue one of these concepts further then I will create level design layouts for them as well. Right now though, I don't know if these will fit in with current BF2 maps. They could be made to work, but I want to know if the demand is there first.
Of course I'm still accepting any ideas that you guys can throw at me. If anything catches my interest I'll try to create a level concept layout for it as well.
