Let's work from the other direction on this eye topic.  Why do creatures that live in complete darkness, are completely blind, and use other senses to function in their habitat, still form eyes that do not work?

The point being that while the eye, we have currently, wouldn't be of much use without all the components, does not mean that there wasn't some use of the individual components as they formed...even if it started out as a mutation.

Probably worth noting that even plants have photosensetive cells that let them 'see'. Enough to face their leaves vaguely towards the sun at least.

Coming from the other end of the arguement. If we were purposefuly designed, what's the appendix for? Why does the human species have over 4,000 known genetic disorders?
