Well, my pc was bought 2 years ago on Easter, and its getting pretty slow with the newer games, and if I want to upgrade one thing, then I will have to upgrade a number of things, so it was best for me to start from scratch again. With a $1000 to $1300 budget (Australian Dollars)

Heres what I have in mind for my next comp.

Processor:
AMD Athlon 64 4200+AM2 Processor Retail Dual Core AM2

Motherboard:
Asus M2A-VM AM2 AMD690G PCI-E DVI-D VGA RAID GbLAN SND SATAII mATX

RAM:
DDR2 Corsair 1GB 6400 (800MHz)

Case:
Antec Nine Hundred Tower Gaming Case (No PSU)

Cooling (CPU):
ASUS Silent Knight Copper Fan & H/S  - Dual Core AM2

Optical Drives:
LG Dual-Layer DVD Burner - Black

Video Card:
XFX Fatal1ty Extreme Professional Edition 650MHz/1.6GHz 7600GT 256MB NVIDIA GeForce PCI-Express Graphics Card, Dual DVI, TV-Out (Link: http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prod … oduct=8908)

PSU:
Standard 500 WATT Power Supply

Total = $1203

My question is: Will this all seem to run fine together? Anything else needed or changed? Did I chose the right products/brands?

Cheers in advance.

hard drive?

Really, seriously, consider getting more RAM.

C2D? you should really think about getting one. And please get 2 GB ram. It's the minimum for a gaming pc nowadays.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Agreed, prices are gonna drop around the end of this month, so if you can wait till then you could get a C2D for a good price.

1,000.00 AUD = 819.021 USD
1,300.00 AUD = 1,064.73 USD

I like google.

BTW, a new mobo, processor(C2Duo E6400), & 2GB of ram will cost $523 USD = 638.580 AUD

Yes, get a Core 2 Duo. It outperforms all AM2 processors. And I'm an AMD fanboy.

Exactly.

If you get this, you'll most likely be sad when Crysis comes out at the end of the year and your computer runs it like shit.

Save some more if you can.

I forgot to mention, I'm taking the HDDs and keyboard + mouse off my old pc.

and was planning to buy an extra gig of ram when it gets cheaper, or i get the money (I just wanna get it going first).

Whats 'C2D'?

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably save up for the newer technology like some people suggested.

I would just like to point out that the keyboard in the photo appears to be the original IBM PC XT 83-key Model F and it is one of the best keyboards ever made. Buckling-spring keys FTW! I've got a 1993 IBM Model M, and it blows away anything made in the last 10 years.
