McCain doesnt get my vote cause he has no answer whatsoever on the issue of illegal immigration.  I dont doubt he is a bad ass to have in the Senate, but not for president. . . .(even though he is a rogue voter at times)

The very fact that my state (California) is getting invaded on a daily basis by our neighbors down south, and he has no plan to curb that. . . .no plan John, no thanks!

In regards to Obama "nuff said". . . . did you smoke a fatty meth bowl and have been up for 4 days?? Cause Obama is not what we would call the most qualified of the Democrat candidates. . . .

You do know that he WILL lose to Hillary. . . I just want to warn you ahead of time, so you dont get too butthurt when she gets the Democrap nomination. . . .

There's no such thing as illegal immigrants...just people running away in fear from John McCain.  Don't you know that John McCain is the reason Waldo is hiding?  And the only reason California doesn't slide into the pacific is because John McCain likes the guy in the Terminator movies.

McCain, though seeming to be a rebel on the side of right, has and always will be a "team player" when it comes to the neo-con agenda.  He does get some balls and speaks out once in a while (like in the original torture bill), but then sits down and shuts up when told.  His latest political stunt where Michael Ware tore his statements up on live TV, and then he runs to Iraq for a staged photo op, was just absolutely disgusting.  My brother the West Pointer was waxing inanely about Johnny Mac some weeks ago, but when I saw the CNN spot live I just had to call him up so my dad (visiting me at the time) and I could laugh at him.

When he is free to speak his mind he does actually seem to have a brain, but when he's told to repeat talking points or simply shut his pie-hole by the masters he does so without question.  In psychology its called "compartmentalized thinking" and is a conservative personality trait, and Johnny fits it to a T.  Granted though, this next election will be a pile of evils, from the Emmanual Lewis pollyanna Obama to a neo-con in sheeps clothing Hillary for the Dems, and the general fare of defense industry sycophants running on the Republican side.  I'm still holding out hope for a Wesley Clark/Anyone Else ticket, but they're a little late to this horse-race.

One thing is for certain, the next administration will have one HELL of a mess to clean up as Bush has effectively maxed out the nation's credit card.  No matter who comes to office, it will mean some very unpopular policies need to be enacted (taxes, import restrictions, public spending cuts, etc) to be get the US back in the black.  Or we can just elect a damned good fiddle player so he can play on while Rome burns...

John McCain learned his lesson in the 2000 primaries that he has no chance if he speaks out against the party.  So as I said, he is playing nice for now.  I remember the interviews and speeches he used to give when he was running against bush and that was inspiring.  He's since toned it down alot because he knows he'll never get into the whitehouse that way...this is politics after all.  Wait till he's president and then you'll see.

Being from Arizona here is my take.  I was a big advocate of John McCain.  First misstep, supporting Bush after Bush's cronies (Swift Boat) basically called him a coward.  These were the same individuals who called John Kerry a coward as well.

Second was backing down on the torture in the military prisons.  He spoke up, but backed down when the legislation was drawn up.

Third was yesterday.  Saying "the war in Iraq is getting better" then finding our he was in a village no where near the fighting.

John McCain is not the rebel of the Republican party he once was.  He needed to stay true to his beliefs and not back down to the political machine.
