Well, Ive been thinking about getting a 360 for a while now, but the "Elite" edition has been added to the lineup:

So, which is the best deal to get? Do you think the Elite is worth it?

Yea get the elite, HDMI all teh way, although its HDMI 1.2, unlike the PS3 1.3

PS3 is the way to go But thats not what u asked for xD

buy a PS3. the good games like gears of war and halo 3 are gonna come out on pc anyway, and the playstations is the consol of choice, it's the only one with HD support, the xbox got the HDMI port for it but the games that are gonna be made ain't gonna be HD, so a xbox would be a waste of money and it dosn't support as many things and it is way outperformed by the PS3, spend the last money on a PS3 and you won't regreat it as soon as metal gear, final fantasy 13 ect. comes out, and by the way "Resistance:fall of man" is a very cool game, think a hybrid between quake, half-life 2 and halo just better.

thanks for the input, but if i cared about performance i wouldnt have bought a wii. the 360 has more games right now and i dont have have an hd tv yet, so it doesnt matter if current games dont support it.

The only reason for the Elite is if you're an A/V fan, HDMI is better than Component cables, but this only applies if you've got a HDTV (and even then, you wont notice a HUGE amount of difference). The bigger hard drive is only good if you want to download movies and programmes from xBox Live, but you might not even want to do that as DVDs are only a bit more money, and you get the physical product. Apart from that, its Black, and if you're going to buy a console on its colour then you need help.

This is the what I wanted to say, couldn't have said it better. Read, decide, and then if you don't want the Elite, go with Premium. I voted Premium (as you said you don't have an HDTV atm).

I too am considering which Xbox 360 I should get. It'll either be Premium or Elite but I was wondering what you guys thought considering I have a 61 inch DLP (rear projector TV) which can run up to 1080i. With a TV like that, I'll of course need wireless controllers coz I'll have to sit back a bit.

Anyone have any thoughts on it?

Premium. The other two are not worth it. The core system is a bad deal, especially because you'll have to buy some stuff (like the controller) seperately, and if you don't buy a hard drive you'll wish you had. The Elite is also not worth it, especially if you don't have an HDTV. You won't need the bigger hard drive unless you are downloading a lot of movies off of xbox live (which is also a waste of money, you only get the movie for a limited time and renting is cheaper) so that leaves the black color, and to me the color is not worth $80-$100.
