Do you think the US would broadcast that? Do you think Iran would be broadcasting stuff like this to the world?

US citizens were just as appalled by Abu Ghraib (Remember the court marshals?). You can see some Iranians publicly advocating the execution of the kidnapped sailors. Let's not be so naive as to ignore the difference in the situations.
I seem to think from the other topic about this that it was about 300 (SPAAAARTA! ) Iranians that were advocating the execution of them. From a population of 68,688,433, that's 4.36810^-6% of the population. Not exactly a majority. I'm sure far more people in the US advocate nuking Iran than that.
I was careful in my wording and used "some".
I was less careful in my reading of "some".

How in the fuck could you have any clue regarding the emotions involved in that?

You don't, and with luck you never will.

You guys aren't the ones who had 300 or so hostages held by Iran for over a year.

You couldn't possibly understand.

Rather pointless to try and get you to, I suspect.

You Iran defenders need to understand something: we have 130000+ troops in Iraq. Any persons wishing to talk to Iranians should do it at a U.S. base or be preparred to be black-listed or taken out.

Talk about apples to oranges.

Any you dudes care to go assist the Iranians and Iraqis in the jihad, feel free. Many of you would be embraced.
Don’t use 911 as an excuse to arrest/go to war/fight everyone. Its starting to become the US's holocaust.

Good points...  We need to find the Saudi asswipes that have been smuggling Sunni extremists into Iraq.

We also need to find the Iranians and Syrians who have been adding fuel to the fire as well.

Whatever the case, Iran is on thin ice.  If they keep up their antics, Iran is going to glow in the dark soon.
No they won't.  I doubt it will come to a shooting war.  Iran has the perfect timing to do exactly as they please.  With U.S. and U.K. public opinion against the war both governments will more then likely stay well clear of another fight and Iran knows this so it is pushing the limits to see just how far they can go.  I would guess that the situation will stablize soon, a matter of a few weeks, with Iran a much more powerful country.  Add on top that the U.S. will probably not get a puppet government in Iraq the next in line will be Iran and with a unifed Iraq/Iran province the area could quickly become sweptup in a ban against the West.
Well, think about this..  if we do withdraw from Iraq soon, Iran will attempt to take it over, but in the process, it will bleed them of funds and manpower like it is with us right now.  Essentially, Iraq could become Iran's burden if we leave, and that would likely stifle their nuclear research.
I dont necessarily disagree with you. . . .

Lets put it this way, once we leave within a year or two, the Shia is going to try and assume full control( which probably will happen cause Iran has cash to spend).  Now the Americans dont want that, so it could be trouble for the Iranians cause we probably would support the Sunni insurection against the Shiite government.

This in turn could really hamper Iran, cause we would basically be directly helping fund their enemies.  We would give them American weapons, money, training etc. to counter the Iranians. This constant internal battle could be trouble for Iran, because they would be spending lots of resources trying to keep Iraq favorable to their cause. . . .

That is not a bad analysis Turquoise. . . . Cause either way both the British and American people want an end to Iraq, and for Iraq to essentially be on their own (ie not need the assistence of UK/US troops to keep security).  This problem could be technically outsourced to the Iranians, we could really make Iraq a funds grinder for Iran if we want to.  Not only that, keep up strict sanctions, and covert action against their financial infastructure.  Iran could and I stress could be in a financial world of hurt . . . .

btw the Iraqi people arent exactly big fans of the Iranians or their government. . .

I am not comparing the 2, never have.

What I am saying is

911 was a tragedy for the US and a terrible disaster for anyone involved.

but the US administration seems to use it as a badge for cart blanche aggression towards anyone who disagrees with them.

Your comment above seems to be drawing a very thin bow between Iran and 911. Its like 911 is excusing all the US’ deplorable behaviour.

No, I liken it to the modern day use of The Holocaust. The Holocaust was a despicable act but it is used as a defence for anything that Israel does wrong.

I agree that there is a degree of "fear" politics going on. However, those situations are hardly comparable. If you can show me someone in the Israeli government that has justified Israels occupation as a result of the holocaust I would like to see it. We know Bush has used the attacks to justify war.

If you threaten the Presidents life in the USA, and the authorities here/see you do it, you go to jail.  For instance, if I was at a bar and was yelling "I am gonna kill Bush", and a cop heard me, he could arrest me on suspicion of assassinating the president. . . .Granted he might think I am a drunken idiot, but none the less he could take me in.

I didnt see that he was in Brazil. . . .The FBI wouldnt waste its time on him, they have bigger fish to fry.

I hope that was a little sarcastic, but if not...

I don't know how things are in Greece, but yelling "I'm going to shoot Bush in the face with a glock!" is a threat, whereas saying "Bush is a complete moron!" is just fine.  There is a big difference between threats and criticism!
