""We will recover what is ours," he said at the main ceremony marking the anniversary, attended by hundreds of people. Scioli also urged Britain to sit down for negotiations on the islands."

Makes sense. Instead of giving them a certain time to return her abducted people she is sitting there looking girl like while Iran plots their next headline grabbing attention whore shenanigans.

Sends a message, you know?

I think Britain should sit down and negotiate. Aren't there enough wars around the world already...plus the British army would make mince meet of any Argentinian resistance over the islands.

Argentina should strike while the iron is hot! Britain would find it a little difficult fighting wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran (???) and Argentina simultaneously!!!

Let's remember those Argentinian and British soldiers who lost their lives in this stupid war started by a drunk asshole.  My respect to them for defending their countries.
@usmarine: Regarding the nukes program we left it several years ago.  I don't think there's a single nuke here.

I guess Argentina has to occasionally go back to pondering the reclamation of some insignificant islands in order to distract itself from the depressing poverty and financial shakiness it has grown accustomed to....

Yes, let's start a war where the inhabitants of the disputed land are out numbered 100:1 by sheep.  I mean, I can understand going to war over oil, but sheep!?!

FUCK no. We kicked them off that godforsaken rock 25 years ago. We will do it again. It is OURS. We turfed the pirates off, and now we keep it to keep terrorists taking potshots at American carrier groups going around the Horn.
GTFO, argies. It may be a freezing cold godforsaken rock covered in sheep and littered with mines, but it's OUR godforsaken fucking cold sheep-covered mine-littered rock.

Although Blair will try and negotiate it away like he tried with Gibralter. Fuckwad doesen't know a damn thing about politics.
And he won't even go to Iraq or Afghanistan anymore, simply because the troops are dead set on shooting him if he shows his face down there.

A needless war started out of pride. R.IP all who had to pay the ultimate price for failed politicians.

Let the people of the Island vote if their is any issue and let them decide for themselves.

Are their any Argentinians on the island?

The guy who said that is an asshole, so I wouldn't pay attention.  It would be the same with Mexico and California.  They don't claim it back, they just invade it.

I think there aren't.  If the people living there want to remain British then the islands should remain British.

Argentina is economically fucked because, like most South American countries, they were forced to adopt the five point plan of globalsation in return for loans from the IMF. And you'll never guess what ...the five point plan of globalisation usually entails the privatisation of every possible industry and the removal of as many trade restrictions on foreign companies as possible i.e. it gets reamed and raped of its natural resources!

I wouldn't say we are fucked.  We paid the IMF all our debt with them more than a year ago.  They tried to fuck us.  The IMF, our lame politicians, but we have enough resources to be OK.  Other country would have dissapeared in the same conditions.  The rest of the debt is mainly in bonds in Argentinian hands.

Sorry I should have said were fucked, Argentina thankfully seems to be on the mend again after it's IMF induced meltdown.

Yes, we were fucked indeed, thanks to our shitty politicians and the IMF, but now we're doing fine.  Like I said before, any other country in the region would have disappeared.

They should just settle it the same way they did in the past.  Let the people of the island decide.  Each government should be allowed to run it's campaign on the island, educate the people of the pros and cons of each and let them vote.

I have the feeling that an Argentinian educational campaign on the Falklands would not go down too well with the locals;) They are in effect a British people. Let me give you an excerpt from a BBC article:

Bomb threat

One local councillor had an e-mail that threatened to bomb the islands' railways (of which there are none) as happened in the London terrorist attacks, adds Jenny.

And an e-mail from this morning on her own computer simply reads: "Malvinas Argentinas. Go your home in England."

Jenny, a New Zealander whose father is from the Falklands, says many Argentine journalists who contact her are under the impression "we are being held under duress by the British government".

"But we are British, I will always say I am British if people ask," says Sharon.

People identify with Britain because that's where their ancestors came from, says Darlene Buckland, who is shopping at local supermarket the West Store with two-year-old son Liam.
