torrenting and IP blockers

ok guys i use a private tracker for a reliable torrent site.

i used to use PG2 but since today it keeps giving me an error and i can't get round it. Can anyone else recommend a good IP-blocker (or something to that effect) to keep me safer when downloading??

safe plug in for azures does something similar, I think it actually uses the same list as pg2. You can also pull torrent through tor or i2p (but it might be a bit slow)

Yeah because private trackers don't ever get busted

ALWAYS use a blocker. If you use Azureus you can get a plugin to use peerguardian type lists instead of using peerguardian itself, and it uses less system resources.

You could use something like Peerguardian or Protowall.

A decent firewall (like Outpost) would also help.

On a slightly unrelated note you may want to enable encryption. A lot of ISP's are using traffic shaping nowadays.

i dunno you can try a proxy, but honeslty if your downloading to much your isp will find a way to get at you.

best way to avoid any trouble on torrent is to just not go balls out. i mean i get on torrent maybe twice a week and get about 12gb worth of stuff, usually just a couple of games etc.

dont get movies, or music off it. thats what netflix is for and soulseek.

if lookin for old stuff, which i do alot, im usually on irc anymore

been on torrent since it began, have downloaded probably 2 tera worth. no problems

its like sex, just dont have to much and you will be safe

It's not about whether the private trackers get taken down. It's about the legal protection for their users.

In any case, it is easy to find someones IP and IP blockers only block well known addressed that won't be used for any serious investigation - peerblockers are a joke.
