Speed fan is showing a reading for 50+c for Temp1 which i belive is the system temp? it has been like this the last couple days, im currently overclocking my pentium D 805 thru the motherboard which has an option to overclock it to 5,10,15,and 20 percent. it is at 10 right now but it is running wayyyy to hot. ive tried everything, i re organized all the wires to help air flow ive opened my windows everything. and my 8800 GTS is quite hot too but im not sure if thats normal, i think it was reading 66c last time i checked.

help!!

Get a fan and cool your computer down.

Raising the CPU frequency isn't going to raise temperatures, at least not drastically (maybe by a few degrees).

Get better cooling.

Speedfan is a horrible program.

Download Everest Home Edition.

Everest is the best for checking temps.  Also, ive read that the 8800GTS run hot, 66c, is that idle or full load? I think a lot of people are running those cards at about 60c idle.. which isnt anywhere near hot for a card.  If it approaches 90-100c full load i personally would invest in a new case with better cooling

yea its 66 at idle, but i fixed it, i got it down to 49c, anyways it looks like im gonna be looking for a new case

49c idle is a good temp for 8800GTS mate, as far as i know thats actually quite a bit cooler than a lot of other peoples cards are idle at.

HOT stuff, those old intels I mean. ur fine as long as gpu temps don't get much over 90c or you start having real problems... 75c is kinda max for my X800XT. after that it doesn't work

edit: the funniest thing is that if I OC my GPU core/memory I get artifacts on my screen when the card is running too cold (this is a problem with older ati cards what I have heard) after couple minutes it warms enough and everything works like a dream

Speedfan is good, just make sure you get the right config for your mobo.

yeah its great - combined with 5x 120mm fans they are utterly silent at idle/watching films/browsing etc but ramp up to whatever speed is needed when im gaming or crunching.

of course there are a zillion other programs to use but I thought id just requote it since Blind-Fusion evidently didnt read the original post
