I don't think the atomic bomb won the war in Europe, Africa, Italy, or Russia.

The air power of the Japanese on th U.S. brought us into it, our air power dropping an "Enola Gay" of whoop ass on Japan ended it.
Most important = ????
Most Significant= Air Power

I don’t think you can place one higher than the other in importance, because they each played absolute key roles in the war. So i hit "NullVote".

Russians were the most important, it didn't matter what we or Britan did, Russia would have still kicked germany's ass

I'm going with Air Force.  I realize the Air Force wasn't created as a separate branch until after the war, but our air superiority blew the shit out of the Japanese.  While it wasn't quite as significant in Europe, we still had a better Air Force than the Nazies as well.

Maybe a better question would be: which was most important in Europe?  Which was most important in the Pacific?

Splitting the question that way, I'd say Air Force was most important for the Pacific, and the logistics were most important for Europe.

Voted other... WW2 was the start of Special Forces. Long Rang Desert Group, Popskis private Army, Commandos and of course the SAS... During the Africa campaign they did more damage on the ground than the allied Airforce and Hitler was so fucked off with them that he issued an order to have any commando who was captured slotted.

Not really the most important in the group, because at the end of the day they all had a part to play and we could not have won with out the co-operation of all the above. How ever Special Forces started in this war and did make an awful mess for the enemy!

Um, partially correct. The Allied Air Force in Europe was strategic in defeating the Germans. Without the airforce, it would have been much more difficult to win, as well as the war would have lasted longer. The Germans were scared of the Airforce and were always on the lookout for the "Jabos" (Fighter bombers, eg P47). The airforce was the most effective way of taking out German armour seeing how the tanks were better than anything we could put in teh field. With complete aerial superiority in 1944-45, the Germans could only move supplies, men, and tanks during the night or risk the chance of being blown to little bits. I would actually say that the Air Force was more significant in Europe than in the Pacific. Don't quote me on that though, I know my Northwestern Europe campaign history, but I'm not up to speed on the Pacific campaign.

Back to the original topic, as stated before, all of these were essential to winning the war. Though, if I could have all of them and choose one to be better, it would put my effort into the Air Force.

They couldn't have won the war with only Air Force, although it played a deciding role. I'll go with infantry.

I'd have to go with the Navy..

Without the navy, Canada and the US would never have been able to join the war. The Japs wouldn't have been able to bomb Pearl Harbour. Britain would have to fly everyone across the channel.. So on..

You cant win a war if you can't even get people to the battlegrounds.

I was not serious. That's why it said it was late. If it would have been dropped in the beginning it might have saved many lives though.

How far does a plane fly without fuel?
How effective is naval power with no ammunition?
How good is armor that can't move or shoot?
How versatile is infantry without weapons who are starving to death?
Without logistics, without the hundreds of people behind each and every single front line troop, a war simply cannot happen, period.  Logistics is the single most important aspect of ANY conflict, ANYWHERE, at ANY TIME.

Hitler + drugs = Stalingrad = German's lose

Stalingrad is the one primary reason that we won World war 2, or at least the reason we won it when we did

Id say Air power was the most important factor in WW2...why?

At the begining of the war, Germany has a huge airforce overwhelming its enemy fast and efficiently, then in the battle of britain they would have won as we all know and would have gained total air superiority in western europe.

Then in the pacific theatre japan attacked hawaii with its air power, but the us airforce battered the japanese air power, and as soon as that happened japan was lost.

And last is the battle of the bulge in which the germans attacked when there was heavy fog so the allied air force could not attack them, and in that time, the germans advanced well creating a bulge in the allied front line, hence the name 'battle of the bulge'.

So id say if we hadnt had air superiourity we would have probably lost the war

Oh, i'll answer it like that too
air power
why?
Air power enabled both sides to bomb the other's manufacturing and population centers into submission, and without manufacturing centers you cannot win a war.  These also allowed both sides to weaken the other before and attack.

The number of troops, resources and gear made the difference.
Also time played a particular part.

WWII was a unique war, one that probably will never be equaled in terms of romantic appeal or tactics and weaponry.

it was the first real vehicular war, but it was still infantry based. vehicles were still fairly crude, and tanks absolutely could not operate without infantry support to take out antitank stations. similarily, air craft needed target painting to play anti tank and similar wars, and bombers were largely sitting ducks playing a game of hit or miss.

on the other hand, without both strong armor and air support, any infantry unit would often be toast, especially against a unit that DID have these things.

to answer your question, there was no real most important thing, but if one absolutely had to be decided, my vote goes to infantry.
