Well after rebuilding my rig on the weekend and going to the manufacturer web site to update any drivers, I installed Bf2 and all my appz ect...
On starting the game up it crashed on me ? I spent the next 2hrs trying everyting from reinstalling the game patching with incementals, then the full patch to no avail, so I turned my attention to my graphics card and drivers , and audio , and also bios updates tried reseated memory, and updating Direct X.
To cut a much longer story a bit shorter; I then proceeded to unistall my chipset drivers and reboot, ......After reboot installed the original driver disk and let windows find the required drivers, rebooted again .and Volla !! the game worked ! so this is a heads up to anybody else ...will save you plenty of time stuffing about, Just proves that the latest drivers can cause issues.
