From the new series its "24" and "heroes" (and galactica kind off). There are few more that are really good but the problem is that they make it up as they go (noticeable). Why? Because chances are that they will get canceled. So they don't invest in "long term".
Also "Monk" is just soooo interesting to watch.
Probably the best ever was "Babylon 5". Best story ever told on TV.
