I'm not sure if this applies to BF2 as well, but just before I found an enemy car while on a Chinese map on PR.  I wondered if the car could be disabled, so I got into our own truck and began putting rounds into the wheels.  Nothing happened, so (for a laugh) I pulled out my knife, lay down and began knifing the tyres.

Slash.  Nothing.

Slash.  Nothing.

Slash.  Nothing.

Slash.  Noth---hissssssssssss!.

The car didn't appear any different, and it didn't sink like the tanks do without their treads.  And the same tyre could be slashed multiple times, giving off a hissing sound after a while.

Is the car affected at all?  Has anyone else tried it?

You could fire a goddamn tank shell at the tire of an APC and it doesn't do shit, it will keep on driving just as it did before.

Don't think it affects anything, and I think it also happens in vBF2

Yes it can happen its just that there is no animation that can show a flat tire. It should be all torn apart or something which would be a pain in the ass to make. So the tire just moves up a bit in to the car.

This happened to me few days ago. The car could still move, but it was slow and it kept shaking and turning.
