I can't even play this retarded POS game anymore...

I get in a server and it takes like a good minute to be able to spawn. Then I have about three seconds of "move-around" time before it goes into like a 20 second lag spree. Any key I press or any mouse movement is then repeated for about 20 seconds and I have no control. For instance if I'm walking forward and this starts happening, I helplessly walk forward until the lag stops. If I move my mouse then it slowly moves my mouse repeatedly until the lag stops.

WHAT THE F***?!

My ping is fricken 40, I have over 100FPS, yet I get this BS.

I have deleted my Battlefield 2 folder from My Documents, no help. Restarted several times, defragged my hard drive, etc...nothing is helping.

Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
2GB Corsair XMS DDR400 in dual-channel
ABit UL8
WD Raptor HDD
Sapphire X800GTO 256MB

Video card temps never go about 55*C and processor temps never go above 42*C or so. HDD is at a nice cool 30 - 33*C.

WTF is going on?

I have a 7900GS 256MB and I run everything on high, no lag.

I run all high with no lag as well ..... at least I used to.

So here's my theory:

I have probably the worst motherboard ever made, coupled with the worst chipset ever made. I'm thinking that since the chipset is so horrible, it's gay-ifying the speed and effectiveness of my SATA hard drives.

So I'm going to buy a SATA controller card.

Is it possible for a crappy chipset to do that?

Have you allowed XP to update your .NET Framework to v3 by any chance?  Or updated your ATi Catalyst software to the latest version?

Since doing these I'm suffering from the same damn problem and it's made BF2 unplayable.  I'm going to try a roll back and see if that resolve it and if not I'll just uninstall BF2 manually and then reinstall it and hope it's sorted.

Before you start blaming your computer for any issues, blame your ISP.

You say you receive 100Fps.. so your computer is totally not to blame.. if you can run SINGLE PLAYER with absolutely no issues.. and only multi player is F'ed.. than it's your ISP..

You can have a ping of 10-40 and yet your internet connection can produce a bad signal making the game run at a ping of 700+!!!!!!!.. even when in game it stats 40.

Contact your ISP, as them what is going on with your internet connection, have them run a test to make sure all settings on their end are correct.

happy gaming.
