I dont have a problem with how anybody talks, but that guy has a very valid point: if you desire to be accepted professionally, you must speak professionally. Major employers are looking for a mold to fit everyone in, and if you dont fit, you must acquit (thank you johnny)

A lotta people do that.  They say "lotta" and "gotta" instead of lot of and have to.  IMO that's not as bad, it's slightly more accepted.

It's no different than leet speak slang, maybe someday we will have only one language butchered by all.
Who is attacking the language is what we should be asking. The poor & uneducated.
Teachers especially are complaining of these types of short hand showing up in thier classes, someday they will accept it as proper .

I think that class is a good thing. I don't speak "proper" english a lot of the time, and a lot of my southern slang is common day use. Talking inproper is very common in the south, very very common. Look at president Bush. He went to high dollar schools, and still doesnt have "proper" english. I'm glad to see more people stepping up to the plate to point out common things which everyone needs to know for the real world. Day to day you can get by with it, but its job interviews which are effected the most.

I've been studying for my SATs recently, specifically grammar rules, and it's REALLY shocking how different spoken language is, compared to the supposed "normal" written language. Over the years, English really has gotten beaten up. Nothing is going to change though. Ebonics is part of culture, at this point.

That's a normal part of the development of any language. Spoken word is always much more different than the written word.
