Well the town where I live Basingstoke (Im at Portsmouth Uni though) built those huge hands with swords in Iraq that welcome you into Baghdad. There's a site with interesting stuff about Blazinstoke here. One of my favourites is Falcon from Gladiators, I know here nephew Alex, and I was too scared to go up and get her autograph at a school fayre!

Nothing.  At.  All.

Edit: Well, Pres. Bush came here in '04 and gave a speech--"September the 4th, 2001, I stood in the ruins of the Twin Towers.  It's a day I'll never forget."  Idiot...

Ruisrock, the worlds oldest open air rock festival still in existence (since 1970). The venue is on an island called Ruissalo, just outside town.

I never said everyone was, as I too am not a Mo.  The topic is what is your town famous for, and that's what we are famous for.  If you ask someone about S.L.C., UT do you think they are going to mention the 2002 Winter Olympics or a mall shooting?  No, they are going to say Mormons, Mormon missionaries, and polygamists.

In my little burg of Eastbourne, (Wellington, NZ,) John Campbell, who's a current events reporter on the show "Campbell Live" and hence character in the cartoon series "Bro' Town", (which had had some pretty awesome guest stars, including the Prince of Wales,) was brought up there, and also went to school at Muritai School, (as I did.) He also went to Wellington College, (as I did.)

Slightly more dramatic, the "Wahine" sank just off the Eastbourne beach. My Great Aunt was on board, (she survived, although fifty-two wern't so lucky.)

Read that again...Africa isn't a town. The sentence was laid out in an awkward way, but the answer is pretty clear.

There's a shit load of roman ruins around my city, and one massive wall built by the romans a LONG time ago which still stand today.

It's also home to the 2nd most photographed clock in the world after big ben.

"A recent Timewatch investigation by the BBC speculated that, from the size and scale of the fort, had the Roman Empire not begun to collapse, Deva would have become the Roman capital of Britain and a launch post for invasions on Ireland."

"The history of Chester extends back nearly two millenium, covering all periods of British history in between then and the present day. The city of Chester was founded as a fort, known as Deva, by the Romans in AD 79. The city was the scene of battles between warring Welsh and Saxon kingdoms throughout the post-Roman years until the Saxons strengthened the fort against raiding Danes.

Following the Norman Conquest in 1066, Chester came under the Earl of Chester. It became a centre of the defense against Welsh raiders and a launch point for raids on Ireland.

The city grew as a trading port until the power of the Port of Liverpool overtook it. However the city did not decline and during the Georgian and Victorian periods was seen as a place of escape from the more industrial cities of Manchester and Liverpool."

I live in Copenhagen Denmark - so I have to say the little mermaid but for the time being it is the riots following the destroying of a building used by young people as a cultural house that is on the agenda i think.
