Title's self explanatory. Have a legit copy of Vista Home Premium Upgrade sitting in my lap. Well, it's actually on my desk. Can I install it on two machines with the same CD key? Or will it go nuts if I try to do so?
I have no idea. Probably you can't. But I'll be bumping this thread so that other's who do know can answer
You can only have it installed and activated on one rig at a time.
thats if its not oem copy :]The Stillhouse Kid wrote:

Alright, so much for running it on to computers then..
No single license version of Vista(or XP) can be installed and activated on two computers at the same time.Homie22 wrote:

Maybe with a crack, but not legally.killinzero1 wrote:

Depends on version, OEM, no (you might if the activations were real close together).
You do not need a crack for. So long as both machines do not update at the same time, you're fine. I gave my Dell away, and used the xp disc to install it onto my custom built PC, works perfectly. The Stillhouse Kid wrote:

Hypothetically speaking of course. The Stillhouse Kid wrote:

I have done it a hundred times with my retail version I BOUGHT of XP.
When you try to activate it (Your legal copy) you will get a 1-800 number.
When you call they have you enter your number, someone with a thick middle eastern accent gets on and asks why your reinstalling your copy of windows.
You tell them you reformatted, they give you a key and that's that.
Every time I reformat I have to call these people.
Easy work around for XP. I am sure Vista is harder.

If you install it twice, the only thing that it wont do is Activate- the thing where you have 30 days to do it.
however, this is easy to get past- just search google, and Windows still thinks it is perfectly lgeal- you are still entitled to all updates and stuff that windows releases, and it still passes the windows Validation test thingy.
This is all XP... i am not 100% sure about Vista.

Sure there are workarounds, but you're only legally allowed to install one license key on one machine.
