update: put an edge on it tonight, just to make sure. it held it, so tomorrow im gonna bust out the corian and get at it. knife SHOULD be completed by next week sometime.
oh, and if you look at the first picture of the whole file, look down at the lower right hand corner.
you should see some scrap pieces of wrought iron, a section of bone, a punch and a brown circle.
that brown circle is called oosik and im gonna use it on a knife....look it up, its kinda weird, but pretty rare and expensive.

i put a hand finish on one side to see how it would come out, and to see the areas that needed further work. the finish looks great (besides seeing some stress points at my plunge cut), further profiling the handle really paid off, it feels great in the hands and already has a nice balance to it. im going over to a friends house tonight, he has a bigger saw than i do, and we are going to cut up some of these huge corian pieces i have.

it really got short after i hacked off the tip, but i really like this design.
the other side hasnt had the hand finish yet and the difference is night and day.

ive stated two or three times in this thread that this is NOT THE 2142 knife.
it is a knife that i am making getting ready for the 2142 knife. it has hints of the 2142 knife, it is NOT the final 2142 knife.
this couldnt be the knife simply for the reason that too much material has been taken off the top to leave room for the two sets of ridges  that start and the end of the handle. and remember, this was made from a file.

update:i think i found a handle design that i like. its made with corian counter top material and its strong as hell.....not a very good pic, but the best i got right now....

and i went to a hammer in this weekend....in our case it was just a few friends drinking and forging, but heres a really cool pic that i like that my wife took.
