Did you try to install it in a diffrent location? Or download the patch from another server

Did you reinstall in the default location? I think this is one of the patching bugs.

Yeah, this happened to me after I installed BF2 on a secondary hard drive.  Apparently no one at DICE thought that people might not install to the default directory.

Might be quicker to -move- the current installation to the default location, patch, then move it back... if the patch isn't looking in the registry to find the game, then... that should work fine. No?
