How do I take an image off a video

Just what the subject says, I want to take a picture off the video of movies and the like. I do the print screem (and only have ms paint btw ) but when I try and save the image, it goes black, or as I move the edit box around, the image disapears in and out of sight depending on where I place the arrow. Off of windows media player if that makes a difference,

Any help would be great

Performance
Advanced
Uncheck "Use overlays".

See if that works.

turn off hardware acceleration in the screen settings menu, after that you can make screens with paint.
