When I want to join a server, it just goes to desktop, without error, the map doesn't even load, I click on Join Server and it goes to desktop, I have no idea what the problem is.

Specs:

NVIDIA GeForce 5950 FX Ultra
Pentium 4 3.00 GHz
1 GB RAM
Audigy 2 Sound Blaster
Windows XP SP2
(All drivers installed)

Does anyone know the problem?

I got exactly same problem here,

I reinstalled bf2 and it got even worse now it's like one try of four when it doesn't end crash,

athlon 64 3200+, GF 7900GT, 2gb and win xp

i know but i didn't want to create new thread for something that all ready exist and it seems that i solved the problem by destroying battlefield 2 folder in my documents no crashes since then

I get the same problem, I have uninstalled manually removing registry files still no luck. Any advice?

I had the same problem a while back with Counter-Strike Source.  Ended up being that my ATI setup had a specific refresh rate specified instead of choosing default.  Soon as I reset it back to default CSS worked like a champ.  Might be the same issue going on with you and BF2
