Sorry I know many of you will be irritated by the recent flock of "cd-key is not valid" complaints but I really don't know what to do. I just started playing bf2 after almost an year then I updated it to 1.41. After that, I went onto the servers and then the message, "your cd-key is not valid", popped up so I went to update my punkbuster which didn't fix the problem. Is there any other problems besides reinstalling?
Have you reinstalled Windows or made any significant changes to your registry? It stores the CD key as a hash in the windows registry. Any changes to this will have the wrong hash for your particular Windows installation.
I actually had this problem in 1942, but was told that a random generator "found" my key thereby making my real one invalid. I believed it then, but looking back, it seems highly unlikely.
