it seems like unless im RIGHT on top of people with automatics (anything not shotgun or sniper) i cant kill anyone, no matter how many bullets i put into them, no matter what i do.

then they fire a quick 3/4 rounds @ me and Im dead. I'm an old FPS kid, so i know my aim isnt THAT terrible, that i cant kill anyone.

Any pointers?

People say the voss is the g36 of 2142, i just dont see it. i feel like i could fire endless rounds into people and if they breathe on me the wrong way i die.

basically, this sounds like bitching, im just trying to explain my situation and maybe get some feedback as to what im doing wrong.

I've tried the voss.. hate it
just unlocked the lambert, LOVE it short range (might as well be a shotgun) but anything after that is all for naught.

Thanks in advance, should people actually post something constructive

edit: another thing i forgot to mention is im a prone/scope whore.
i.e i see an enemy, i drop and scope to try and kill.. seems aim is more accurate WITHOUT the scope in this as opposed to bf2

crouch + scope = win
try using the krylov and the voss in small bursts

Have a go at using the scope stabilizer for the Lambert if you're into it like me.

I suspect something is amiss

Hard to say what you´re doing wrong if you actually are the one that starts the fire-fight then i guess it comes down to worse aim than your opponents. Try out the Krylov it´s magic it´s dead accurate over long distances used in single shots and up close it has no equal the rate of fire is unmatched.

Edit: I saw your edit now, when you´re up close to someone don´t bother crouch and zoom in you will most likely be dead before you can get a shot off. Strafe around your enemy and just burst him down.

snping isnt really an issue for me, seems to be the only way i can get kills, thus me whoring out recon.

i think my next unlock to work for is the h-ar. seems nasty from the couple vids ive seen

It's effective yes but have quite a kick as well. Spraying is a no no with that one.

As =]-[f= ig88 said, don't drop and pop like you do in BF2, hit crouch instead and burst your enemy.

Does that even work on the Lambert? I don't think so...

I used to have the same problem when i started playing BF2, unless you're playing support firing in short 3-4 bullet bursts seems to be the best way... always aim at the head too unless your aim really is poor, that goes for the shotguns too

I think the Krylov is way, way better. Trying crouching and scoping and let off 3 or 4 short bursts. Or if you're feeling retarded, empty a whole clip at once, which of course isn't such a good idea at medium/long range.

you said you are a prone whore...madmurre had a good point.  Strafe arounf the people because, from what I've experienced, if you crouch or go prone while they're shooting at you, your face tends to end up in their line of fire at some point, killing you very quickly.

stop playing 2142 might help

there lies your problem,

Crouch and aim.

Your aim zeros in faster crouching than proning.

crouching will you give you meduim overall accuracy over time.

Proning will you give the most accuracy but only after about 5 sec you aim will be good. so stick to crouch

Your solution is exactly what Machine_Madness suggested.

That's your problem right there.  Crouch is the new prone.  When you prone in 2142, it gives a huge delay before you can fire, and your aim is totally off.

Small bursts will get you the kills. Also, zooming helps, but only if they haven't spotted you.

higher resolution can greatly improve aiming

I find standing more effective than going prone, avoid it unless you are camping.

don't be afraid to put it in single shot if you're firing medium to long range either. this helps tremendously, and does a good job of improving your accuracy.

Yeah. Especially with the Krylov, single fire is nearly exactly the same as automatic, but alot more accurate of course.

Didn't read all this topic. Sorry if i repeat someone: don't go prone, it f*cks your aim for a second or few. Long enough for you to get killed. Stay and shoot or better - crouch and shoot(zoom helps a lot).
