tarantino is a hack! he just takes pop culture styles from overseas and mixes them together into one big ugly thing...he has no substance or originality.

guy ritchie and the early john woo films are much superior gangster films than anything tarantino ever made.

monty python is always good, funny as ever the seventeenth time you watch it.
I think Tarantino deserves more credit than you give him. Obviously he "borrows" many of his ideas from other movies but he does admit it and so pays tribute to the original. That's what I liked about "Kill Bill". In my eyes Tarantino is all about "style" and he does a pretty good job at it I think.

I agree that I like Guy Ritchie movies far better. "Lock, Stock..." is one of my favorites. I just like the british humour. So it is not surprising that the Live Footage of the Monty Pythons at the Hollywood Bowl was one of the funnies things I have seen to this date.

half baked! get away from me biotch! i'm impotent!
When you say Half Baked I have to think about the line Bob Saget had. You'll find it here. He played a Cocain addict... *hahaha*

but seriously

TOP 5:
Fightclub
Empire strikes back
One flew over the cuckoos nest
Seven samurai
Pulp fiction (tho I am very critical of his work)

Worthy mentions:
Desperado
Saving private Ryan (good movie, but has many flaws)
We were soldiers
Black hawk down (nice style but a bit construed)
The pianist
Schindler's list (clearly inferior to the Pianist)
Jaws (eternal classic)
Don't be a menace (hilarious)
Matrix (original is a masterpiece)

There are many more, but these are really enjoyable.

"Fight Club" goes on my list, as does "The Goonies." I liked The Shawshank Redemption, (did you know it was a box-office flop?)
Donnie Darko's on the list, as is The Ring, (don't get me wrong, only because it made me feel brave. It wasn't scary!)
The Japanese version of "The Grudge" goes on the list. Havn't seen the US version but when I saw the Jap version it was scary as Hell. Best. Horror. Film. Ever.

Has no-one seen "Wrongfully Accused"? It's the funniest movie ever! Leslie Nelson and the like.
Yes! Shawshank is easily one of my favourite movies, and so is Wrongfully Accused! That movie is hands down hilarious. I don't think I ever saw a movie more funny in my life.

Hm to many great movies to choose from.

Citizen Kane (definately one of histories greatest)
Matrix (only the first)
Saving Private Ryan (Spielberg is King)
Lord of the Rings (All three movies, groundbreaking use of technology)
Boys dont cry
Dr. Strangelove (last sceene where he rides the bomb, priceless)
Snatch & Lock, Stock and Two smoking barrels (both will be classified as cultmovies eventually)
Akira

and many many more - i see a lot of good movies in these posts, but how many can say with hand on heart that the movies they posted really made a great impression on them ?

What movies where groundbreaking ahead of their time, witch made a new genre like Matrix or Akira ?
