I think you proved that pretty well. Wouldn't have thought it myself, would have said you'd have been to college, but I do know people come from all sorts of backgrounds here, so you can never really tell. I have to say though, I'm sure I've learned a lot more 'useful' things that actually interest me outside school, through books, the internet, and of course the all-knowing Discovery Channel.ATG wrote:
No, I wasn't kidding.
I was raised in Utah and in family, working to support everybody was more important than school. My dad raised no objections and in fact landed me a full time job when I was 15.
Its kinda sad, I was in advanced classes all through grade school, and was a wizz kid at science and math.
My only formal adult education is four years of Jazz bass guitar lessons and theory studies. Running a business for 9 years, and being father of two.
Thank god I have a voracious reading appetite. I consume books.
My current interests are geology and mining history.
I find that if one has a desire to learn, he may become more well versed in a subject than most people sitting in a class room by reading a book or going online.
Now you'll know. I am a unedumacated country bumpkin working full time since I was 15.
Now, how many guessed?
Anyway, on to me. I'm currently in my last year of high school doing the International Baccalaureate, and will hopefully be off to Keele Uni next year, to start a BSc in Computer Science.
i also did the IB back in 2003. good timesghettoperson wrote:

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
By the end of this academic year.

Seriously though let me recommend a book you may enjoy... completely fascinating...

Mark Kurlansky, the bestselling author of Cod and The Basque History of the World, here turns his attention to a common household item with a long and intriguing history: salt. The only rock we eat, salt has shaped civilization from the very beginning, and its story is a glittering, often surprising part of the history of humankind. A substance so valuable it served as currency, salt has influenced the establishment of trade routes and cities, provoked and financed wars, secured empires, and inspired revolutions. Populated by colorful characters and filled with an unending series of fascinating details, Kurlansky's kaleidoscopic history is a supremely entertaining, multi-layered masterpiece.
BS in Electrical Engineering plus about 15 credits towards a masters in EE but had to leave due to $$$ in mid-nineties.
Senior in High School
Studying for a B.A. in Marketing Management at Newcastle University.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.
It actually is. The hills around L.A. are laced with gold mines and the stories and history is actually quit fascinating.The_Shipbuilder wrote:

Not only that, but I've learned boatloads about geology and locating of lodes.
I may actually persue commercial mining as a second career.

null vote, I've got about 22 hrs of college under my belt.
You had a 92.43% chance of becoming a Liberal if you exclude the fact that you worked and read informational books. You are just another person who slipped through the democrats social sescruity net due to hard work and ambition.ATG wrote:

Now you are condemned to a life of values and self-sufficiency when you could have suckled from Hillary Clinton's nipple of government dependency and social decay for the rest of your life.
Disciple of video game culture since I got my little-kid paws on an Intellivision. Converted to PC in the age of Wolfenstein 3D. Boy scout apostate. Navy stuff. Few certificates here and there and a couple of AA's from a tech college. Ability to learn different sorts of math if I concentrate hard enough.
Just don't get too leveraged.ATG wrote:

My GF's family lost millions in mining in the 30s and 40s.

Most everyone on the Liberal side of the aisle in these forums is either a kid or they get emotionally wrapped up in the discussion. This is why rationality is often lost. I have seen it a few times, when you pin them down with facts they either throw something totally irrelevant into the discussion or just start putting words in your mouth.
