Yeah, monopolies suck. Here in DC/MD/VA until recently, Comcast was basically your only choice for TV. Either that or shitty OTA broadcasts. So that meant Comcast could charge all they wanted since it was either them or "And in tonight's BZZZZZZ news BZZZZZZ the president will be giving his state of the union address BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ". That's changed though... Verizon gives TV service now so all is well

Im perfectly content with my internet as it is, and Im only showing the recommended server because I usually only deal with internet things that are in the US, although it recommended a server that was in Canada, but still relatively close to me (I live in Ohio)

Ty, you're in a major city (by Kiwi standards anyway). I would have thought you'd get better than that. Granted, Telecom are terrible, but surely not that terrible. Have you looked into Orcon? According to the Iconz players, they are pretty good. Of course, if it is because of the quality of the line in your neighborhood, then you're screwed. Hell, even Woosh would be better.

Mines shite also. Bt was supposed to upgrade me to 8mb and im still stuck at 1mb!
I had to ring them myself for them to upgrade me to 1. I just cant be arsed ringing them again when i shudnt have too.

Anyways, I tried a speed test - pure bullshit if you ask me, either that or Telecom runs especially well when there's a test involved. Regardless, I got 2541kbps download and 104kbps Upload. this of course is in New Zealand and probably means next to nothing when going beyond New Zealand. Still a piss-poor effort compared to you guys anyway, and trust me when I say the reality goes beyond these results. It's always slow as a wet fucking week.
