Ahhhhh, "Big Ben" the pistol! It's the desert Eagle but rechambred to use the rifle bullets.
It's in one of those blue chests undergound next to that guy in the bars "family rifle"
Silence that and coupled with the VSS sniper and your in business.

On the artifact hunt front I found this:

Ok guys, so I have been following this game for a few years and had pre-ordered it years ago when they were in the delay, delay, delay mode.

I am looking to add another game to my rotation and simply want a buy/no buy answer. I have owned dozens of games, some good, some great and some crap. In your opinion, buy? or no buy?

If just a few people could post their specs and performance in Stalker that would be great, as my FPS recently halved itself, in stalker only

specs:

Intel c2d 4300 @2.5GHZ
2GB DDR2 @ 667
ATI x1950PRO

on anything but static lighting with medium/low settings: 20-30 fps unless if I look at the sky

before I could easily play on full dynamic with high settings..

what the hell is going on?

bah, something must be horribly wrong with my game.. I've tried doing a full reinstall (deleting everything, even the stuff that the installer skipped) but to no effect.

and yeah, it's game specific.

JUst patched up to 1.0003 and all my saves including my latest which was inside the NPP, corrupted

So started playing again, must say its a good game, but its taking getting used to, to rough around the edges for me performance wise

My favourite part of the game, is when I spend 10 minutes loading a new area, to spawn into the front of a rifle and have my head ripped off.

takes me about 1 min and if you load the autosave of the new level it takes about 10 secs, + kill the people before going into the new zone so if you need to go back there all dead...

Stalker rocks at the moment i running around with a VSS VINTOREZ (real life name) a Special very good Armor

with the artefacts 2x Soul 2x Moon... (Moonlight??)

I only got lag, if i must run through the whole map.(yea non-stop running ) or grenades explode.... and loading needs ~20 seconds

1.5 GB RAM
x800 PRO 256 MB

Stalker is a very good game. I have yet to encounter a bug (on the latest patch) and although the game is rather hard to get used to, what with the guns being different from other FPS in the way that I can only assume is more lifelike. So far I'm up to the part where you have to turn of the brain scorcher thing, but I'm happy enough playing it like I do with Oblivon (ie: stuff the main quest, go searching for stashes and helping people out). In a matter of fact, Stalker is very much like Oblivion with guns. Also, for a game that is ment to be running on a rather old graphical engine, it looks very good.

Well Im on about the 4th playthrough so far. Ive encountered several AI bugs but nothing that couldnt be corrected with a reload of a save game. I found an Exoskeleton Mk1 in a stash. Go me! xD
