Currently looking into a MusicMan Stingray 5 stringer.

The Gibby is pretty cool, but I'm totally in love with my own build. Nothing compares, I don't know why.. Potting the pickups made a lot of difference, for one, I guess (high gain, no squealy feedback, but rather the good one. It's like having an e-Bow, without the e-Bow).

What the SG lacks in sustain, it compensates with fast frets and a very versitale pickup setup -> very broad range of sounds, all of them which sound good. I'm still trying to find the optimal setup with string/pickup height. I won't be changing string gauges from the .010:s I play with on all my guitars though.

A MusicMan should be great, but the Fender is awesome aswell. However, the 5-string is so much more.

Jokey time: What did the bassplayer say when he got his first 5-string bass? "This strap is kinda tight".

I was merely answering a question. I thought this was the "AU Chat", I.e. no specific subject. But I'm sorry if I answered bakinacakes question on my setup thoroughly. And no, I don't collect them to gain a higher self esteem (I do play all of them, in a band), different guitars have different sounds - it's like having more than one pair of shoes. You don't go jogging with rubber boots, do you?

Yeah, i really like the jazzy feel of the fender, not sure how the stingray would go. Not really looking forward to the price tag either, i was also looking into a precision for different things, like maybe punk rock or so. But then i would have to go through the whole playing with a pick thing, which feels rather lanky .

And yeah totally agree about the fifth string, ads so much more to your playing ability.

Also, do you recon i should upgrade my amp? I think it runs pretty well for me atm (playing at school, youth, and messing around lol).

Edit: My mate has a ibanez, the one with the logo on the (21st?) fret. Very nice like the way it handles, not too neck heavy, great sound too.
