I doubt the US will ever totally collapse, just become less significant on the world stage. If other nations (China or India probably) eclipse the US in power, we'll probably just become isolationist and concentrate on home defense.

Always have and always will. Can you explain please? You could argue that Germany just staggered after its defeat in World War 2, and got back on track by the reunification in the early 90's. I think the point of the thread was asking "when will the United States cease to become a superpower". Which I think is inevitable, personally. Okay, I think you're delusional if you think that for the rest of human history as we know it the United States will be the most powerful nation in the world.
