I'd like to believe that there's something after death because this way this world is made seems all too complex to of happened coincidentally; yet there's no scientific proof so I'm going to have to say no.

There is no evidence to suggest otherwise but let me hit you with some Einstein, "I do not think that it is necessarily the case that science and religion are natural opposites. In fact, I think that there is a very close connection between the two. Further, I think that science without religion is lame and, conversely, that religion without science is blind. Both are important and should work hand-in-hand."

There's been no scientific proof for many things until they've happened.

I fail to see why some atheists work so hard to make apostates out of religious folks. It's not as if they're going to save us from anything after death. And don't give me the "to stop war" BS because humans are quite capable of being violent and deceitful without the help of god(s).

The Internet disproved the nature of infinity?  Hmmm, yeah OK are you Karl Pilkington?

Sorry but this one of the biggest misconceptions, usually made by creationists.  The theory that evolution involves 'chance', coincidences and accidents.  Evolution never mentions any of those words, it HAD to happen.  In other words there was a 100% chance of it happening and there are no coincidences.  Eventually atoms will grow, mix and mutate, it isn't chance it's nature.  People talk about the Earth saying stuff like coincidence as if we have something else to compare it to.  If it didn't happen then we would be here to realise it and conversely if it have happened differently we could live in a World of peace and infinite lifespans.

"Give an infinite amount of monkeys and infinite amount of typewriters and they'll type the complete works of Shakespeare"
Actually, the Internet disproved that theory.
You appear to have missed what I boldified, so I'll highlight it for you.
You clearly didn't watch the video because if you did, you'd have seen the discussion about the quote you "boldified" earlier.  The 'infinite amount of monkeys' mantra displays the nature of infinity and thus my reply referenced your post precisely.

I don't believe in any sort of reincarnation or existence in a heaven or hell.  I think that thought is very old and tired.  However, I can rest assured knowing that I (nor ANYONE for that matter) can prove or disprove life after death or any concept of heaven/hell, despite what people in this thread and people in real life attest to.  I refuse to accept the idea that people have crossed that border, or "Seen the white light" as it is so often described, as a means to prove the idea of a life after death.

I do believe that there is an energy force that separates living things and nonliving things.  When we die, this energy is transferred to the universe as a whole.  It just dissipates.  The worms soak it up, the plants nearby, any living thing.  Sort of like osmosis, or high/low pressure, it just leaves the former living body and moves to other living things.

Anyone of us could drop dead at any moment. Carrer, children, family, movies, money, beer, jokes, etc, can all end in a second. Would that be it, the end of it all? Life would be meaningless if that were true, at least to me.

And I say this entirely indiferent of religion.

I disagree.  No after life would make all that stuff more important.

I agree.  Without the possibility or belief in an afterlife, it makes this existence that much more important to enjoy before it ends...

Believing in afterlife does not diminish the enjoyment of this one. But the meaning of life itself looses some significance when theres nothing else to it after this life. Instead of being something more, it becomes just the everyday things we enjoy. Although thats a lot to be grateful for, there has to be more to life than just this material world.

For many people, there is without having any faith to speak of.  Posterity...  Making sure future generations (especially your own children) can live free and healthy lives is a secular way of finding meaning in this life.

Eventually we'll all know the truth... . About half the people who voted will be right,  the other half is in for a surprise. Hopefully a good one.

What meaning of life?

Personally I think the meaning of life is to successfully pass on your genes so that part of your genetic code will continue to exist into future generations.

Why would or how could anyone come to the logical, fact-based, rational conclusion that there is an afterlife? Baffling.

There is no logical conclusion, its a belief. And the belief of the majority of the ones who voted so far.

What's baffling is how some people seem to know the absolute truth over something that can't be prooved neither way...

It's the principle of Occam's Razor.  Something does not exist until proven otherwise.  The burden of proof is on believers, not disbelievers.

Granted, this principle was actually devised by a monk....  lol

I ask you to disprove the nonexistence of such a thing using your oh so loved logic.

Hey, if you believe in them good for you. Make a thread about them if you want to debate it. Better yet, make a poll on it. But I have a feeling its going to be a bit one-sided, unlike the one on this thread.

But he does it in the special time continuum created especially for Christmas. Haven't you ever read the Hogfather?
