No matter how much people complain about bullshit, the developers at EA and Dice have created a freakin kickass FPS series.  I remember when I started playing BF1942, then DC, Vietnam and now BF2 along with SF.  I knew they would keep going on new stuff based on the popularity of the old and BF2 is more than I had expected.  Anyway, keep killin 'em folks, it'll probably only get better.

/agree!!!  Great game!

It's funny how I don't seem to have this 'unfinished and buggy' product that everyone complains about.

To a point, I agree. The game was released with a LOT of bugs -- some rather serious ones too, and ones that don't make a lot of sense. However, when I get down to it, I've spent over 200 hours playing this game -- obviously the games bugs don't outweight it's awesomeness

Yes, I think that is the general feeling on it.  The game is what it is.  Enjoy it or do not.

I got hooked on BF42 also...from an ebay find that included the old original. That lead me to FH, DC (never got to BFV). I was a late bloomer as far as BF2 (didnt have the system or money at first) but I finally have it and I like it overall despite the many changes with various factors.

When I jump online I crack a few beers and get phyced up and have fun. I dont notice half the stuff others seem to and when I do its quickly forgotten amidst the fog of war. I get so worked up with just staying alive.

Granted the game has some faults, but most do and it is impossible to make all players happy, but for me its close enough. Now I have to bite the bullet and install this new patch sometime. Just when I was getting used to the last patch. Arg.

I'm the late bloomer Virtual_ResistancE

My first game of this series is BF2 which started in mid Oct.   In fact, this is the first FPS that I've played for more than a week.  The Unreal/Quake's of the world are too fast, whereas Delta Force/Rainbow Six were too slow.  This is the first game I've seen that has a good pace and good balance of CQC/Sniping/Vehicles.  It's been a blast.  Up until this point I was an MMORPG/RTS junkie

This is my first BF game and I find it truly great (despite bugs). I am a refugee from the Quake era (with a detour through Far Cry) and find this simply "head and shoulders" above the rest.

Amen...
Although I love the game, I would still prefer that they have some form of beta tester thing so that the major errors were out of the game before they release something. I'll probably never ever gonna forget the first and subsequent second patch. That goes into the record of blooper of the year...

I love the game, faults and all. It is what it is and I accept the quirks as part of the game play.

My problem is with those who want more realism. It's a GAME! Games are all about having fun! You must maintain balance between the two sides. How fun would it be to know the US Marine's are ALWAYS GOING TO WIN?

Those of you that complain about the "invulnerability" of the planes! You people SUCK! Hello! When on those maps, you need to alter your gameplay NOT to get your ass blown off! You numbskulls! There's only 4 planes on any given map, only 2 are enemy planes! And how many control points? If you're standing near a CP or an AA, you're not only a legitimate target, you're a moron!

This game rocks! It draws you in, grabs you by the throat and holds you spellbound till you can't feel your ass anymore! Instead of whining all the time about it's flaws, just learn the quirks and quit making such stupid, dumb-ass decisions that get yourself killed!

There's an interesting point here. Major software companies are finding that it is much cheaper (especially with large applications) to let the users find the bugs. It's much simpler--with a popular product like BF2 you've got a huge customer base to point out to you (at no charge) exactly where all the bugs are. Of course, you want to release a product that is basically functional, but if you look at the improvements that are coming out in the new patch, I think you'll see that many of them are results of the community not only pointing out bugs, but making good suggestions (eliminating dolphin diving, eliminating C4 throwing, and adding the UAV). I think that even with a very large staff of beta-testers it would be impossible to find all the bugs and derive the improvements that the gaming community could, almost entirely by virtue of its enormous size.

I used to think that maybe these companies were doing things on the cheap, but I think now that this is the best way.

its a great game, good gameplay and massive amounts of ppl playing, cant ask more than that. But some bugs should be fixed, EA has a lot to learn from blizzard, they got like what? 15 patches for warcraft 3... a system like steam should be nice, small bug fixes not a super 300mb download...
