Nice, good post.

I heart NASA.

NASA has furthered a lot of advancements, but I'd rather leave its funding up to the private sector.  Government money should be spent on more "down to earth" goals.

NASA is one of the few government organizations I can actually get behind.  The stuff it does is just too expensive for private business to invest in.  At least until recently, private spaceflight is supposed to be coming along fairly soon.

Don't forget about the second A in NASA.  Think about all the advancements in aeronautics since NASA has come along.  NASA has had a hand in just about all of them.

Satellites are also quite crucial to every day life, you most likely couldn't watch cable TV with out satellites.  And if it wasn't for the space shuttle many of the larger satellites couldn't even be put in space.  Things like GPS, which NASA is responsible for putting the satellites in space, have made huge advancements in our understanding of the earth and have allowed for more efficient extraction and movement of resources.

Lets also not forget the machine tools created for the space program.  They are some of the most finely tuned pieces of machinery on the planet and can cut metals to with in 1/100,000 of an inch easily.  This technology has spread to many other industries and is largely responsible for more reliable products, like cars, aircraft and other things.

And lastly, you really can't ignore what NASA has done for physics.  You may not care at the moment, but we aren't very far from things like quantum computers (think almost infinite processing power), sustained fusion for power generation and other things.  We wouldn't be half as far in our understanding of the universe and how it works if it wasn't for NASA, and that understanding is on verge of paying off BIG time.  By BIG time, I mean big like when humanity moved away from hunting and gathering and started farming, it will be that big of a change.

Ok, but we don't need NASA to tell us that. There's plenty of more specialized institutions researching the climate
You know those funny climate graphs everyone's obsessed with? Guess where they come from.

The funny thing is, Bush and most conservatives stand by NASA. But when NASA gives them info they don't like, its liberal scientists rather than NASA. LOL @ Life. HAHAHA!

NASA has put out some great products, but they are a pretty expessive way to do research and development.

I think NASA is great, but they are a luxury that we just can't afford right now.  We need to pay off some debt first.
KInd of like the heart machine for children in TExas. WHo the hell can afford to use it?

"Sorry sir. Thats a tier 3 machine and your insurance pays up to tier 2. Apologies."

But hey I can't argue. Go NASA! Hey....let's make Pluto not count as a planet anymore. Ok.

edit: BTW

NASA's annual budget is close to 16 billion dollars.

= One hell of a flash drive....
The US military has an annual budget of 470 billion dollars. If you want to save some money look there. NASA is relatively cheap.
