Wrong CD Key?

I have a guy in my clan and he has instaled the game and patched it

but now he gets an error saying he has the wrong cd key??
how does that work,

this has hppened before when he installed a previous patch

he bought the game legitmatly and not broken any laws (like copying)
but it still says he has the wrong cd key?

ne ideas guys??

I really don't know if this will work or not. But it won't hurt to try it.

Open up the registry, and find the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc

or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2 Special Forces\ergc

Double-click the (Default) entry on the right side, and enter the CD key as it appears on the booklet. Do no include the spaces, or dashes. Just one continuous sting like so:

0123456789ABCDEFGHIJ

Close the registry editor, and reinstall the v1.12 patch. By doing this, it encrypts the key in the registry. Try and connect again. If this doesn't work, then I'm not sure what else you can try. Good luck

I don't. The Icafe that I play BF2 at still hasn't managed to fix this problem fro the 1.03 patch, hence me stuck with the low rank.

Hey. I had the same problem. It occurs because from patch 1.02 onwards EA fiddled it so that it encrypts the key to the Windows account you installed it on. So they'll have to use it on that account. Hope it helps
